Segregated Player Funds? Segregated Player Funds?

07-12-2011 , 04:01 PM
I know this question has been asked before but it seems no answer was provided (search yielded zero after Rizen's quote below). So I am posting to ask it again. IMO, any site expecting significant volume should segregate and include this in TOS. I may be naive, but it seems like a dodge to decline to discuss in order to not "draw undue attention" when there is an entire sub-forum dedicated to Lock, banner ads everywhere, etc.

Rizen, this isn't a shot at you ... you deserve nothing but praise for the work you are doing here. FWIW, I have also been impressed with everything I have seen from Lock so far. That said, segregated player funds should be a top concern for everyone these days and Lock needs to confirm or deny.

Thank you.

It is a bit frustrating for me not being able to talk specifics on player funds, security, and issues like that because I believe most of the answers would put players minds at ease, but I understand the flip side that we don't want to be publicly saying things that would draw undue attention to us.

I do apologize that that's as much as I can say, I promised some sort of update though.

No worries, unfortunately I can't add anything to that at this time, although I will e-mail them again and stress that addressing this would go a long ways towards alleviating player concerns.

The Carbon rep (who uses the same cashier) has addressed this elsewhere. I've still been asked not to talk about it publicly, but I can confirm that what CarbonChris says is accurate.

With all due respect, Rizen, this is really kinda laughable. I agree you're not to blame, but this is really weird. It's some kind of poorly kept secret?

That link didn't work for me. Anyone else?

Worked for me. Its a link to the Carbon rep basically saying that player funds are segregated and safe. He doesn't give any more info about how the funds are managed than that.

See, that's what I didn't get. I figured that's basically what Rizen was alluding to, but what is the motivation behind telling him he can't "officially" tell us the same thing? Seems like they'd wanna be broadcasting that info all over the place, or at least when people have been hounding them about it since they opened. Strange.

Good to know, though, thanks.

They don't want him saying that so when they get shut down by the DOJ and decide to stiff us they don't have any thing official on record as showing the funds were available.

As long as no one official from lock or merge is willing to come out and say/prove all funds are segregated, I believe they aren't. And as a result I continue to keep the bare minimum on line.

Meh, either way we've been led to believe they are segregated, but we're on the same page totally as far as the sentiment contained in your last paragraph there. The things you say in your first paragraph are the reasons it seems so goofy to me. Just a hamfisted way of placating some people.

I seem to remember a longer thread about Lock segregating player funds. I searched and can't find it, this is the only thread I can find.

Here is a link to the indictment of Ray Bitar of FTP. Maybe the people at Lock would like to read the 3rd charge. He is being indicted for misleading people about the segregation of customer and business funds.
