Do you have to qualify for WU cashouts? Also, it says one free WU cashout per month. does this mean we don't pay for the 10%?

You don't have to qualify just be verified. Yes it is one free cashout they pay you back the 10% once a month.

Unfortunately, it appears it doesn't matter how long you've waited nor that they've made a mistake which has caused additional delay. I've waited 37 days for a Skrill cashout that's supposed to take a few days max.

They claim that they sent my funds to my Skrill account but it looks like it accidentally went to the wrong account.

I've waited 3 more weeks for them to correct the mistake and give me my money with no luck yet. I've repeatedly asked them to give my case priority because I already waited so long before the mistake was discovered but I guess it doesn't work that way. It's more "hurry up and wait".

They say they're working on it, but they've had more than enough time and I deserve better, as apparently do you too.

Good luck!

After 9 weeks I received my check. The check is from a Canadian bank and I am in the US. In the past when I got checks from Lock while it was still part of the merge network I would deposit the checks at the ATM after the bank closed so I didn't have to explain what the check was from. I went to deposit the check I got the other day and big surprise the ATM wouldn't accept it. Now I got to go in and deposit it to an actual teller, but I am sure I am gonna get twenty questions about what the check is from. What is the best thing to tell the bank without lying?

I've been in the exact same situation many times. Sometimes they ask, sometimes they don't. "An online business I'm trying to get off the ground" is my go-to, haha

They are trying to prevent bounced checks, not pry into your personal financial deals.

If you tell them "I've received checks from them before and they've all been good" that's all they want to hear.

+1. It is unlikely they will even ask you about a Canadian check regardless.

One of my checks was put on a 21 business day hold, and I finally get the funds credited today for anyone else in the same situation waiting on a check with a hold, hopefully put your mind at ease.

I tell them (if the ask)... I design webpages for them as an independent consultant. That always work.

Ick. If they're still doing the Canadian checks thing, I'll have to look into WU to withdraw. My bank ate a large % of my check in foreign collections fees. Switching banks would be an issue for me right now.

Any other ideas of what to tell the bank when depositing checks without blatantly lying?

You're not required to tell them anything, and I've never had a bank ask. It's not their business why you have the check, their only concern is whether it's good or not. You can assure them it's good, and if you feel you must provide a story you can say it's from a personal business transaction (not a lie) and leave it at that.

8/8 - Requested WU withdrawal
8/20 - Under Review
8/23 - Accepted (incl. decline/confirm emails with sender name/address)
8/26 - Noticed MTCN added to history
8/27 - Money in hand

Also, a note on larger WU cashouts. As others have mentioned before, the smaller WU locations like convenience and grocery stores, K-marts, etc. often can't handle a large amount. I had to call 4 locations before I found one (a bank) that would process a $1500 cashout. There were no fees on the receiving end, but the bank did require a ton of information from me aside from just my ID, including SSN, phone number, email address, and even my occupation (?). Took nearly 30 minutes to complete the transaction. I'm not surprised about the SSN, with Homeland Security laws now it's pretty much required that any financial institution collect SSN as part of a transaction, but was surprised about the occupation and other stuff. Just FYI for those considering WU who are paranoid about giving out that info -- you'll have little choice unless you keep your withdrawals small enough to work at the mom & pop gas stations and such.

Yes in the US. Will update when I cash out again on 9/1 and see if it is 2 weeks again...

Shane, I requested a cash out on 8/1/12 and am still waiting. I just want some reassurance that it is going somewhere at least if that is not too much to ask. Thanks for your time.

I requested a check on 7/08/12 and haven't received anything yet and am still waiting, I plan on also Pming Rizen about this because he seems to be the most respondent of anyone at Lock support.

The cashier states that 1 WU w/d per month is free so why is it showing 10% taken out? Does this change once I click submit? I'm not paying a $200 fee
08-28-2012 , 04:47 PM
Check Requested: 7/15
Check Approved: 8/16

Still not arrived. 8 Days ago, (6 working) Liam said that I should receive within 3 - 7 working days. I emailed support about yesterday they seemed to be clueless as to the process and as to how long it would take to get my money. I PM'ed Shane.

My problem is I'm moving and want to receive the check before I do. I was planning on leaving this Friday but now I might have to wait another week.

What mail do they use? I seem to remember FedEx before but I called FedEx and they said they couldn't find a package that was supposed to be delivered to me in their system.

The first fee of the month is reimbursed upon request (sometimes it's automatic, sometimes you must email -- I always request it in my withdrawal comments). You'll pay the fee if you want to withdraw, sorry. It's been this way even when Lock was on Merge. And not all sites refund the first one, so it could be worse. I'll gladly pay the fee and get reimbursed to have (relatively) quick and painless WU withdrawals for US players. If 10% is too much then pay the $25 check fee (also reimbursable) and wait 4-8 weeks to get a Canadian check that may take another 4-6 weeks to clear.

Both of these answers mean opposite things. Regardless of having to request it or not, DO WE GET REIMBURSED?

If the Canadian check has MICR encoding at the bottom, you should be able to find an ATM that will accept it and there should not be any extra foreign collection fees applied by your bank. See if your bank's ATM card is part of an ATM network which has deposit-taking atms available, and try those. If not, open an account at a local Credit Union for your poker transactions. They are usually part of an atm network with lots of atm deposit options including most other credit unions and often places like 7-Eleven and/or Walgreens.

Tell them it is from a trusted business partner that you have been doing business with for some time. Also, I would mention that you have no problem if the bank puts a hold on the funds from the check until whenever it clears. This will hopefully avert any further probing questions.

I have deposited dozens of checks from poker over the years and have never been asked a single question by my bank, so I don't think you should assume they will give you the third degree. But if I was really nailed down, I would never lie to the bank and simply state that I compete in skill-based games on the Internet for money.
