Call to Action: List of Lock Poker Pros Call to Action: List of Lock Poker Pros

I recently saw Lock's list of pros and was surprised by some of the people on it.

Setting aside lock's problems we have known for a long time that current US facing sites are less than reliable. If the money is worth it to you then whatever, but If you are representing any US facing site you know what you are getting into.

I don't trust any of them.

Lock pro: Ok, well if you don't give me an explanation as to why we can't even pay ROW players in a timely manner, I'm going to stop repping your site, stop accepting my compensation, and advise players to stay away from lock poker.
In which imaginary dreamland do you live?

I think if a lot of their pros did that it would be great for our cause. Not sure why you have a problem with the suggestion.

The pros can act similarly to 2+2:

1. A pro can voluntarily pull all banner ads and stop all promotions until the issues in question are resolved to their satisfaction.

However, they may be unwilling to break their contract? The pros are gambling with their reputation by taking the word of Lock ownership.

If any of the pros started harming the reputation of Lock Poker (assuming it were good), Lock Poker would drop them. Why is it that when Lock Poker starts ruining their reputation the pros don't drop them?

I was the winner of the free roll into the sunday 100k and then i shipped the sunday 100k for 18k, as for lock poker I emailed them numerous times about me trying to get my $18,500. I reieved several emails from shane stating that I would be contact by a lock manager. I waited and never was contacted. I did NOT recieve $1 from there cashier dept. All the money was either sold or I transfered it for gift cards. Its a ponzi scheme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Short answer:

Because they won't give up that fat paycheck.

A US based pro has limited options for sponsorship and if they are a tournament specialist....the variance is going to be huge.

That means they aren't going to give up that $20K a month (purportedly what the top name Lock Pro's are getting)

Apparently the going price of a reputation is $20K per month these days.

It's so hard to get a sponsorship for poker anywhere in the world.

Some of the pros at Lock Poker probably have a sweet affiliate deal and some hefty rakeback. I'm sure that Lock has been dangling a bigger dream on some of them that things will get better and everyone will make a lot more money.

Most of locks pros are terrible! There are a few excellent players on that site but they are not ones with sponsorship

In all likelihood the pros have been advised the best way to help the site out (and in turn themselves) of its' current plight is to encourage more deposits with their tweets, patch wearing and other communications. They are likely sold that more deposits = solution to the cash out problem and in turn you continuing to have a sponsorship. They also are likely told by Lock that 'any discussion of cash out issues by sponsored pros will only harm the prospect of new deposits negatively effecting both existing players from potentially seeing their withdrawals and you as a sponsored pro from keeping your deal going'

The problem is that the chance that new deposits would actually dig them out of their cashout backlog and be able to save the site at this point is extremely low.(put your own % on it) As such, the sponsored players need to realize that what they are being asked to do (encourage new deposits) is never going to help the situation and will only further harm those new depositing financially(sinkhole). Even when sponsored pros get to the point where they realize that their pimping of Lock is a lost cause for the players on the site, if they think it will help them continue to get paid, even for a few more months, they may continue to do it anyway, especially knowing how little it has effected the long-term reputation of previous pros who accepted sponsorship money from shady sites like UB. And the will sleep at night, knowing they didn't directly take the money from players, only indirectly.

What would be appropriate but we will likely never see, is for the sponsored pros to step up and commit the following to the Lock players, many of whom have played on the site directly due to their promotion.

'We believe in the viability of Lock Poker and that the withdrawal problems are a temporary concern. We also believe that new deposits will have future value. As such, we as sponsored pros will not directly accept any salary until the cash out backlog issue has been addressed. Rather, we will escrow our salary payments into a fund that will go exclusively toward helping to facilitate overdue withdrawals'. Once we as 'Team Lock Pro' feel that withdrawal times have returned to a reasonable turnaround, only then will we accept any overdue and new sponsorship payments from the site.'

Never happen, but definitely the right thing for them to do at this time.

Thumbs up to Chris Moorman for being the first pro to leave lock. I hope others are soon to follow.

Very impressed with Chris Moorman's decision. Kudos to him for having the self-respect for doing what he believes to be the right thing. I'm certain this wasn't an easy decision to turn down the money that they would supposedly be paying him.

In other news, I wonder how much these discussions on 2+2 as well as the pressure put on him via twitter factored into his decision. I have to think a lot.

Paulgees left too
05-08-2013 , 05:03 PM
Yup. That's 2 down now.

They're saying some awfully nice things about "thanks for the opportunity" instead of "I'm really concerned with what's going on there and do not believe things are on the up-and-up."

Of course, announcing they are leaving in the first place amidst everything happening kind of implies that anyway. But harsher statements from them...and even whatever inside info of the retreat or anything else they wanted to share would be welcome.

I'm not holding my breath on any of that though...and I am happy we have started to see some players do the right thing.

Or what about, "As a sponsored player on Lock, I'm giving them X days to provide answers to their concerned customers whom I care about. Absent any movement on their part I will be ending my affiliation with them." I mean, if they are leaving anyway...might as well put pressure on them and/or speak out regarding anything they might happen to know or what they've been told. Again though, no biggie on those deciding not to do that as it is a personal decision. Even politely leaving speaks volumes.

I was wondering about live events and sponsorship with the pros since the wsop is coming up. Does anyone think any of them will show up with Lock logos? If the site is still running and the situation isn't any better how the site explain that?
