I'm going back to do a year in college but the syllabus hasn't being updated since I graduated in 2008. One of the subjects is Windows programming (win32 api). Is this relevant today? hasn't .net replaced it?

I don't do any .NET programming but I think it's a good idea to learn some win32 just to understand how everything works on a lower level.

On Windows CE (real time Windows) yes, on Windows not so much. POSIX APIs would be a much better topic for a course.
