Edit: Also, its dev community is super active. Version .10 was released a few weeks ago, and the development version is updated several times a day.
Interesting timing. I'm re-learning a bit of Prolog on the side (had 3 AI classes at university that were in Prolog) and stumbled upon this which I thought was pretty neat. I've worked through most of the Prolog chapter in 7 Languages in 7 days and will do that next (basically learn Prolog by writing a cave adventure game):

Later I want to interface GNU- or SWI-Prolog with Ruby, I know you can interface Prolog stuff with Java,C and C++ but haven't researched it. If anyone has done this let me know. My very basic idea is to create the prolog code by parsing stuff and putting it in a textfile then backtick call the prolog interpreter on said file to get a result
