Hi,

I'm a complete computer noob, so would really appreciate some help. I need a new computer and have been looking at ordering one from pcspecialist after getting a few recommendations to use them. I don't dont really want to spend much over £1200. I need it for playing multiple poker sites, a seating script, pio/simplepostflop sims, PT4, dual high resolution 24inch monitors, etc. How does the below look? Any advice will be hugely appreciated.

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3900x 12 core cpu
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite
Memory: 32gb corsair vengeance ddr4 3000mhz (2x 16gb)
Graphics card: 1Gb Nvidea Geforce 710
Storage drive: 2TB PCS 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb

Would 350W power supply be adequate or would I be better of with 450W?

Cheers.

Thanks

What resolution are your monitors? If they're both 4k you might need a slightly better graphics card, wait for someone more sure on that. It'll run 3 at 1920*1080 fine.

Choose the option for better thermal paste (extra £5 or something when I last used them) and get any extra fans the case supports. I'd recommend adding the fans yourself, high-end Noctua fans are only ~£15-20 each and make a huge difference in cooling/noise levels compared to most stock fans.

Don't just get the cheapest case, the right case can again have a huge effect on cooling/noise levels (although there's a trade-off, "silent" cases can have very poor airflow and higher temps).

I think I'd go for 450w - there's a few websites that'll tell you exactly what the power draw is for your specs if you want to be sure.

Edit - checked one of those sites it says 310w for your build. Go for 450w to give you some headroom for the future.

Thank you for that Imp. Is there any difference between 4x 8gb ram and 2x16 gb ram?

There's nothing in my setup I posted that will clash or would be better swapped out for something else?

I was going to opt for liquid cooling plus fans so I assume that should be adequate?

No idea about the ram question. I went for two sticks because it's less things to go wrong!

Yeah you should be fine for cooling with that.

One minor thing - I got a SSD + HDD in mine, ended up taking the HDD out because it was noticeably noisier than everything else. Something to think about if you're also neurotic about stuff like that!

That's a remarkably old graphics card - I'm surprised you can even find a retailer willing to sell it. The card has very poor support for 4k monitors, so it seems very un-futureproof.

Indeed, it seems that the integrated graphics of the motherboard are equal to, or exceed, the graphics performance of the card as far as I can see, so you might as well leave out the video card:

Quote:
Integrated Graphics Processor:
1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
* The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.
1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@60(Note) Hz
* Support for HDMI 2.0 version and HDCP 2.2.(Note)

Resolutions at 60Hz max out at 2560x1600 for digital outputs and 2048x1536 via the VGA adapter, but you can setup up to 3840x2160 or even 4096x2160 over HDMI if you drop the refresh rate to 30Hz and 24Hz respectively. (You won't want to do that - it's possible but not recommended.)

Thank you for pointing that out Josem. I have 2 24 inch monitors, 1920 x 1200 resolution. Just to confirm I should be fine to ditch the graphics card and just use the motherboard as you said? I have no plans to play any graphic intensive games on it.

I don't think so. Only the lower-end Ryzens have integrated graphics (2400g/3400g). The specs listed for the motherboard are if you have a GPU core (Vega Graphics) on your CPU.

I defer to The Imp's expertise here, I'm not deeply familiar with that part. I assumed if there was a plug in the motherboard, it would work.

If it doesn't work, get a more recent video card, I think - I could imagine you wanting to use a higher resolution screen in coming years.

Other than price and future expansion, no. It's usually best to max out each memory bank when buying/upgrading.
