In which language is this written?

I'm talking about this: http://www.pokerhandrange.com

And then namely the adjustable grid with hands. Also, how difficult would it be for an experienced developer to develop a site/web app fairly similar to this one (probably a bit more advanced) . How many man hours would you assume would go in to creating this.

Re: In which language is this written?

It appears at first glance that it is programmed in JavaScript for the front end, and then shipped to Google Analytics to do the actual calculation.

Re: In which language is this written?

Regardless, I'd recommend using ProPokerTools. And if you want to do something yourself, look at what poker code you can find on GitHub, and compile it.

Nah, google analytics is not like a math package, it's something that's used to track users and clicks and stuff.

It looks like the whole thing is written in javascript.

If you run an inspection window on chrome or firefox or whatever you can see the urls it loads for javascript. Looks like it's using jquery, and it loads something named "calculator.js" that probably does the calculations. It uses a library called "jsbn" which is a "big number" javascript library.

You could download it and look at it.

Thanks! And would you be able to take a guess at how difficult this would be to make for an experienced developer?

I feel pretty sure I could do it in an afternoon or 2 of my free time, but I've done a lot of poker stuff before (in languages other than javascript)

And would you be interested in creating something similar to this? Paid of course.

Re: In which language is this written?

Thanks Rusty. That kind of code belongs in a server somewhere rather than in a browser, imho. JavaScript is not a good language to choose for this.

OP: You can get better code for free if you keep looking. Just go to GitHub.com, and search "poker". And ProPokerTools is free (non-professional edition). ProPokerTools professional is going to be cheaper than hiring a coder for sure, and it's a very good app.

Re: In which language is this written?

Nah I disagree, calculating ranges from percentages and vice versa is a trivial task that takes little computing power and could be done in almost any language. It's not like this thing is running simulations or something.

Re: In which language is this written?

My ProPokerTools Professional does 600,000 simulations super quick w/ range vs. range. I'm starting to sound like an advertisement though.

This thing doesn't do simulations. So it's not important how good it is or isn't at simulations, because that isn't what the OP is asking about.

Would you know someone interested in working with me on this job? I'm looking for a JavaScript developer with a poker background to create something fairly similar.

The proper place to look for someone like that is the Marketplace forum.

Are you sure you don't want to learn how to program it yourself? This is an excellent "tutorial goal" project. I did something similar for my first foray in to React.

I'm currently focusing on other projects such as video editing and am looking to outsource this one. Not in the last place because I'm looking for something more advanced than this and it would take me ages to get to that skill level, looking at the time I could dedicate to it.

But it would be a cool project no doubt.

Re: In which language is this written?

Thanks for the replies guys. I will post in the marketplace soon, as on fiverr not many people seem to understand the idea behind it (or Im terrible at explaining it).

I’d try Upwork ahead of Fiverr if I were you.

Re: In which language is this written?

You can also try making a post in the Software forum, might find someone there able and willing to do it.

No, it needs to go in the Marketplace forum. Not only is it a site rule (as a mod I'm surprised you don't know this), but the Software forum FAQ even points it out...

Can I advertise a contract position/private job?
No, please only post threads that will benefit the entire community. The correct place for job advertisements is in the Marketplace forum.

Re: In which language is this written?

I'm even a mod of the Software forum! Imo this is suitable, though we don't quite know the extent of OP's "a bit more" description. It's close / borderline, I guess. A post asking for the same thing, but done in AHK would be perfectly fine, for example. I guess that means in general the resulting script will just be posted for all, but that doesn't always happen these days.

edit: seeing OP's post now in the marketplace, and it's still light on info and "pm me for details", yeah prob not a great fit.
