Given that understanding your customers and the problems you try to solve is what makes or breaks most companies I assumed this was a nobrainer. I wouldn't call this SEO or even online marketing but rather the core of (most) businesses.
I mean that's the stuff you need to be testing and understanding really well and spend time on each and every day if anything (especially if you're a startup).
You're obviously 100% correct. I'd also say it falls under the "useful stuff" umbrella. I don't think posting fluff that brings some extra target guys to your site is all that helpful in the long run. But if you post stuff that is actually helpful for them...now we're talking.
