Could be the completely wrong forum for this (mods please move if necc)! I posted on Reddit too but I know 2p2ers are smart and computer/IT savvy so thought I'd try here too and maybe someone here can help me build this.

I have an eCommerce store selling a niche product in the UK/EU - we are doing pretty well in the 1st few months of trading. We have a massive Instagram following and I'm doing ads on Facebook/Google AdWords and its slowly building - we are currently way above the average for a new eCommerce site in terms of sales. We get the odd customer from US/Can/Aus but its rare as our shipping is done with Royal Mail and the product has a low sale price (under £20) so paying £12+ for intl shipping puts off those customers. Thus we are getting maybe 5-10 abandoned carts a day from US customers who want the product but are quite obviously put off by the shipping cost. Plus the US is a ginormous market and I want to get in there.

What I want to do (correct me if this is NOT possible): I have tried to use a fulfillment company in the US, it works out extortionate and decimates my margin - and I don't want to lock up any inventory there. So......... I came up with a crazy idea that I could build a 'mirror' of my site (using the same .com) that if US/CAN/Aus ip addresses logon they will see a version of the site that is applicable to them. I.e Only 1 product (as opposed to the 3 options they would currently have if viewing the UK site) - a different price shown in local currency including 'free' shipping (for psychological purposes) i.e if the product is $34.99 and includes free shipping they are more likely to purchase as opposed to paying £x + £12.50 shipping when the shipping is 75% the value of the item being shipped! Items will be shipped from UK not fulfilled in the US etc

Is there anyway I can do this and does anyone know of a way to do this happy to pay someone here to help me build it (haven't got a huge budget!)?

You'd need to Geolocate your visitors, two ways are either using Cloudflare who can send a geo code via an HTTP header, or by using a service like MaxMind. (Alternatively cheap and cheerful would be to ask the visitor to select their country).

I don't see why you couldn't:
- Duplicate your site, host one on .co.uk and one on .com
- On the homepage of the .com geolocate and redirect to co.uk if from UK
- Make all .co.uk canonical URL point to .com

Something like that anyway. Duplicating stuff is never a nice solution but if you just want it up quickly and easily that's how I'd approach it.

You sound like you know what you're talking about. I don't though. I'm pretty useless at these sorts of things - do you know anyone that could actually do this for me, how much work is this? Have you seen this be done before? Thank you.

If you dupe the store yourself on a separate domain, it's probably not too much work after that. Don't know anyone who could do that for you right now I'm afraid. Possibly look at third party services like Shopify who might have that functionality built in?

Yeh we are on Shopify - been looking but not sure there's an app what I need. I've posted on upWork but I don't know if I trust those people with my site all seem to be in India and no reviews. Thanks for your advice anyway I'll repeat it when explaining what I need.

If that's all you need it should be easy. Getting an additional domain is going to cost you what, about $10

What your asking for is pretty basic. Get a professional to help you.
