First-time Poker Hand Evaluator, Help Needed! First-time Poker Hand Evaluator, Help Needed!

All,

My name is Andrew Barber, and I am attempting to teach myself Python for the purpose of writing a hand evaluator/equity calculator for some of the newer poker variants that have become popular in recent years. I have spent the last couple weeks taking 2 Python courses and reviewing some of the existing open source code that handles the more standard variants. I am feeling completely overwhelmed with the complexity, and I am looking for guidance/tutoring/mentorship in this project. I have been both a teacher and a coach (poker, tennis, and sailing), so I think I have a special appreciation for the returns to 1-on-1 instruction/assistance.

Apologies if this post is not in the spirit of the forum, but I feel particularly lost and discouraged.

I'd be happy to help you. It would probably be easiest to set up some way to IM, I'm on google hangouts and discord mostly these days. You can email me at me@rustybrooks.com (I program in python/C/C++ for living, and have written many poker related simulations etc)
