A radio Show from BBC

Quote:
The Whitehouse Coup

Document uncovers details of a planned coup in the USA in 1933 by right-wing American businessmen

The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression.

Mike Thomson investigates why so little is known about this biggest ever peacetime threat to American democracy.

This is my favorite history video. I watch this 2 part show maybe once every 6 months idk why but for some reason I really like it. (it was made by pbs in a series called "Empires" iirc, and you can find all of them online on youtube or google videos just search for empires on pbs for the episode list)

I wanted to recommend History 202 "European Civilization, 1648-1945". I am several sessions into this and am finding the professor really engaging.

John Merriman is very solid - his best piece by a landslide is '' France since 1871'', even if your not that much into french history. ''cafe culture and drinking in france'' is maybe one of the best history audio iv'e heard to describe a cultural phenomena of lower classes. Almost everything by Merriman is solid.

He's a badass. IIRC he raised his kids in France and from what I remember of his lectures (been a year or so since I watched them) he absolutely loves the history. The only thing I didn't like about him was that I found it hard to actually remember what he said lol, maybe its just the subject matter though.
