Bahaha. God, I love the Old West.

The old west was a place of vendettas. They took their fighting seriously, and could sometimes, when banding together, evict enemies from their midst. I'm not sure they were correct in their evaluation, but I understand the desire. Perhaps more devious means would've been more satisfying, without having to involve thier friends.

Micks are all over Ireland. Some micks are willing to mistreat their friends, so other males find them bioligically worthy of mating, and prodigous in locating mates. Other micks, desperately need to be admired by other men. When not getting enough attention, they wilt. Still other micks, are just lying treacheous phonies, but I'm not allowed to say so and will soon be quieted. But BrianTheMick, now he's a real masterpiece. A kind, concerned, loyal, (did I say loyal?) non/irish piece-of-work. And that's a fact jack.

Now you're playing straight man, feeding me lines.

Well if you've got a sturdier metric of high culture, I'd sure like to hear it.

But seriously, if you were to poll literature departments in the Western world on 'Greatest novelist in the Anglophone canon', I'd be surprised if the single biggest response wasn't Joyce. I'd be very surprised if the single biggest response to 'Greatest poet' wasn't Yeats. And Wilde (I've often heard repeated) is the most quoted author in the language. Those are just the giants, too - there are somewhat less famous examples which as far as I'm aware are nonetheless world famous - Synge, Beckett, Behan and even Brian O'Nolan.

I mean, feel free to correct me, it's just an impression I've picked up over the years.
