As I understand, the revolutionary war is the American War of Independence.
Well, the British could have a chance to win if the Americans were not supported and trained by the allies and the British didn't engage in too many wars. They could win if they knew to accept the Americans' petitions and end the taxes. However, the Americans still had their advantages in their homeland, while the British were outsiders.
And even if the American had lost in the war, it would not have prevented them from gaining independence in later centuries, especially in the period of decolonization

Best chance would be for France to care more about doing the correct actions for France rather than actions designed to hurt Britain. 1789 was the price they paid for being stupid.
