you are wrong. I made my post in response to someone who said, if i recall correctly "godbless america."

You're from the DC/MD area aren't you? This just happened here.

I´m sorry but this is really naive.
I try a analogy myself: It is like the women who get raped and beaten by some alkoholic loser and feel really good if he drinks 6 instead of 10 beer and just whips them with a belt instead of a steel rod. "See girl he is a real sweetheart".-Oh the feds are violating my personal rights even though i didnt do anything-but hey they give me my stuff back and i just have to to pay some k in attorney fees-sweeet ship it.

They shouldnt abuse and distort such laws in the first place. Viffer can be lucky that this money wont break his neck and he has plenty left.
What if this would have been some student or another person who wants to purchase something in cash. They are criminalizing people who dont want to be traced or whatever-and as long as being suspicous is not a crime those DEA guys should shut up.

As a semi-related aside, TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/) is a good open source disk encryption software. It can create hidden, plausibly-deniable operating systems where noone cannot prove you have a hidden partition as it looks just like free space.

your analogy is stupid. if every girl in the world was raped and then one girl experienced a benign raper, than sure she can feel lucky. i feel bad speaking so vulgarly, but i guess it is your fault for 1) talking about raping 2) making an incorrect analogy

stop defending the rape of civil rights you sicko-i hope u get "randomly" screened by some feds and you have the pleasure to experience the lube + rubber glove routine- and after that you can make another thread "hey guys they violated me and didnt find anything, but at least i dont have to go to jail for not havng done anything. god bless america!"

its "war on drugs" legislation

Our state paper here in Arkansas did a series of articles years ago about people who were travelling by car with large amounts of money and had their cash seized by police due to drug laws.

The laws did not require the person to be arrested or charged - only the officer to suspect the money had to do with drugs.

1 guy was driving to Mexico for his Father's funeral with his life savings in cash. He eventually got half his money back. Another guy was travelling to Texas to purchase cars at auction and they took his cash.

A woman had her car seized because the previous owner installed a trap door and hidden compartment that could be used to hide drugs. She eventually got her car back but sold it to pay her legal fees.

As a European I can say I am very impressed and frankly I'm jealous of the sheer goodness of your country.

Can't win with these guys.
lol i got this after they took all my money when i crossed into canada. they then thought it was reason to search my car.

I would say blitz's opinion is the most valid one in this whole thread on the issue of which government agents are pricks at least.

Qhy is so hard for everyone to just keep your mouth shut and get the **** out of situation? Who are all you guys trying to impress? I could understand if you were trying to look cool for your girlfriend, but she is at Denny's getting the Grand Slam with an extra side of bacon. Just shut up, agree, get your stuff back and get on the flight. You guys think a few Mf's keeps your dignity or something? Or are you thinking about the great 2+2 you can write about how you don't take any **** from authority? But you guys plays NLHE, obviously all masochists anyway.

im canadian and get stopped every time i cross the US border. It must be on my record that I have travelled many times with over 10k and they just stop me instantly for a search. Im honest and answer all the questions and besides time they dont take anything from me.

A quick little story from my 21st birthday from the Ottawa airport. I had a 3PM flight to Vegas so I show up at noon just to be safe expecting the search. I had $20,000 on me and get to the customs guy. I get hte standard do you have.......on you questions and I tell the guy "no, no, no, yes I have over 10k." He pulls me into another room and the standard customs guy questions. I answer all of them honestly. In short I said Im 21, I play poker for a living, I goto Carleton U, I live .......st, I have 20k in cash, going to Vegas for birthday.

Guy goes in the back and comes back with two more guards. The younger one repeats the same questions and researches my bags while the older guy recounts the money. Eventually they both finish and the old guy says to me "How did you get all this money? At your age I was begging for nickels to buy beers with" I say to him "I play poker online.....these are my screenames......and thats too bad you had to live that way"

They let me go and I was off for my first Bellagio series.

wtf is wrong with British rule? Damn puritans were no fun, they didn't drink or dance and lead terribly boring lives. Loyalists were abused terribly by the revolutionists many being beaten, raped or killed so they left for Canada which didn't turn out so badly (maybe I'm biased). That Mel Gibson movie like all of his was incredibly inaccurate.

they allow you to carry 10k US but if you carry more they'll tax that too.
Let's see, bribe for 1/3, means get to keep 2/3
In US, you lose everything with no recourse.
