PSA: CAKE POKER SECURITY BREACH ALA CEREUS

Hey guys -

Here's the link from PTR that demonstrates how one can access your username, password, hole cards, and email: http://www.pokertableratings.com/blo...poker-network/

I am not a computer guru, but they say it is easier than it was with Cereus. HSNL, and particularly HU players, are obv the most likely targets, so please be careful. I'd recommend not playing there.

Hello,

In the meantime, for players playing on the Cake network, we encourage them to follow security practices, such as:

Players should ensure that their computer is secure. Run anti-virus and spyware detection software, not to share their computer's password with anybody else, etc.
For added security, we recommend playing on a wired network. Plugging your computer into a router or modem with an Ethernet cable is the best defense against packets being sniffed.
If using a wireless network, we recommend that is WPA2 protected.
We encourage all players not to play on a wireless network which is not password protected.

We will ensure to keep you updated as to the progress of this development.

I was pretty worried when I read this.

I had 5 figs on cake but didn't play there, so I put in a withdrawal.

It was paid in ~24 hours.

They're doing a good job w that at least.

Re: PSA: CAKE POKER SECURITY BREACH ALA CEREUS

Message from Cake Poker network:

Important note to players: We have been made aware of security vulnerability in our server-client communication. Correcting it is our highest priority and we expect to have it resolved in a matter of days. Although it is highly unlikely you will be affected we encourage you not to play on an unsecured wireless network; a wired network (using a cable) is the most secure defence of all. We will update you as soon as we have corrected the vulnerability.
