restaurants i heartily recommend:

Mamas Fish house (best in Maui imo) in Paiea, awesome super local food (the actual fish you are eating is listed w/ the fisherman who caught it, where it was caught etc, with new menus every day, same with all the items on the menu, eg the coffee etc, bit gimmicky but you get the idea). really good. Bring money; was $100 for lunch with no alcohol. Kind of depressing eating near plenty of attractive newly weds but w/e, that's the life of the traveling salesman.

Oyo Sushi or something ilke that in Kihei; tiny hole in the wall in a ****ty shopping mall, sushi is as good as i have had anywhere. there's a place in new york that reminds me a lot of this place but the name escapes me.

Spago @ Maui; v good, pretentious but not since there are so many families in maui, pretty funny to be eating a $200 meal and some kid has his feet up and is watching a movie on his ipod at the table over. but the views are sweet and there is a breeze over the restaurant, v peaceful.

Also smashed lots of sugary **** after swimming or cycling, molokai sweet potato pie, shave ice, coconut icecream, coconuts, kona bean shakes.... list goes on... yum.

Read the book Blindsight for a change of pace, Sci Fi, pretty good, interesting characters, pretty good to think about the concept of autopiloting through life / conscience etc, not new concepts but framed interestingly enough. Author is a bit heavy handed with his writing sometimes but i'd recommend this book.

Occassionally had trouble sleeping, no alcohol kind of sucks and often late at night i'd be bored with no internet and i'd be lying there staring at the ceiling and sometimes i'd think about how the only real skill set i had is within a world that is rapidly collapsing and how i didn't really have enough money to sustain the quality of life i was currently living for long and how it would really really suck to have messed up this poker thing, how ironic it would be that despite being a professional poker player, i didn't play my cards right and ended up with nothing at 28.

But whatever. I feel like playing poker now and that is good. Maui was good.

Isn't this every poker player's nightmare/worry? I know it is mine. I try to use it as motivation.

I haven't met you irl, but based on your posting you seem to be one of the few poker players this isn't true for. At the very least I know you are a good writer, which is more than 95% of poker players have to fall back on.

might be up for this tonight on 4 tables, I've played easily under 1k hands of online NLH this summer too fwiw

ill play for a 1$ a hand also

"rapidly collapsing" is a bit of a stretch. Even if it is actually "rapidly collapsing" it will never collapse to a point where a player of your skilll level won't be able to make 200k +/yr. People are just naturally degens, and humans will just always want to gamble.

i certainly hope its not collapsing; about an hour ago I decided that I'm gonna go back to school despite the fact that I have no intention to get a job

You are like a 5-1 dog to finish the first semester with > 2.5 GPA if you take a full load or close to it

say I bet 1000$ is there a chance it will make you succeed beyond any expectations and then you will quit poker for more fulfilling adventures?

there are two very positive online poker articles in this week's economist.

they basically are calling out american and european governments for their hypocrisy and not-so-hidden agendas

"it seems the governments are not concerned with protecting the consumers, but the consumer's purse"

I would also like to add that i spent today at the Grand Wailea Spa before going to the airport (where i am now!) and it was awesome. Rated as the best spa in hawaii. I would go again. So that concludes my maui adventure!

I hadn't read anything in the HSNL forum in July or for the end of June (I don't think anyway). I just took a bunch of Tylenol PM and decided to start catching up on the July **** thread to go to sleep. Somehow I finished it. Sigh, another night of hours in bed without sleep.

The good news is I am really ****ing tired now.

Krantz et al, show looks badass. Great work.

Sorry, I have learned betting against you is just donating money to the CTS leads a sick life fund. But betting against kingdan in any scholarly based bet seems like free money.

Not really capable of making any sizable bet on this, but what kind of courses? I ask because the average grade in the American Studies dept is an A I believe, with similarly insane grading in other departments (business school grades really easy as well). There are some tougher ones though!

I was there 2 months ago. The spa is like 3 spas in one its insane. Especially if your a queer spa lover like me.
