I'm honestly not planning on playing any live tournaments ever again, but if you wanted to give me like a 50k prop bet on who makes more $ in the ME next year me or Hellmuth, I guess I'd fly out to Vegas to play it.

why do hsnl struggle so hard vs tournament pros? why are the skillz so different and why dont you just pay for someone like elky to teach you poker?

they don't struggle vs. tournament pros.

online cash players would absolutely demolish the tournaments. cash game players are leaps and years ahead of the brain of a tournament player. really, I figured taylor would be a lot smarter than to make the statement he did in regards to tournament players vs. cash game players.

lets just say this. if the sites banned cash games and only allowed tournaments, the current cash game players would send most of the top 100 guys on pocketives trucking back to their real job.

here's some examples of predominant cash game players who can also light up tournaments at will:

thorladen
genius28
HOSS
Phil Galfond
Traheho
isaac haxton
dani stern

This list could go on for decades.

Also I hear taylor make an argument about how you should preserve your smaller edges and wait for bigger ones or something like that. you should watch this video interview. matt hawrilenko talks about how he's never gonna pass up any type of edge. i think his results speak for themselves (3 final tables this year).

http://www.cardplayer.com/cptv/chann...att-hawrilenko

i think taylor is just looking at himself and tournaments and using it to generalize the entire cash game population. i think the reason why taylor struggles in tournaments is because he doesn't have the paitence or stamina and starts making moves that are spewy and unnesecery. he's also considered a cash game heads up specialst which wouldn't correlate well to any type of 9 max tournament. on top of that he doesn't have any tournament confidence.

but for the most part, cash game players would ROCK the tournament scene.

then taylor makes an argument willing to bet guys like TIMEX, zeejustin etc.

Well those two guys plus people like jovial gent, actionjeff, etc. those players are in a COMPLETE different class even against other successful tournament pros.

there's tournament pros, then there's sicko tournament pros.

there's cash game pros, then there's sicko cash game pros.

there's tournament pros, then there's cash game pros.

there's tournament pros <<<<<< cash game pros.

the end

apparently no one can actually understand the written word in this thread. maybe its wsop tilt, maybe its vegas aids, but everyone should take a few breaths, step away from the keyboard, and relax.

btw, anybody here can confirm that stealthmunk = aperfectgent on stars? i still can't believe aperfectgent on stars is YourTimeIsUp on ftp.

i read on web that aperfectgent already played 100/200 hu vs durrrr... if he really played this stakes vs durrrr 2years ago, why on the hell this guy wouldn't play 25/50 vs me? yesterday we played some hands at 25/50, he lose 3buy ins and quit. then he comeback w/ 35,5bbs LOL. i said i wouldn't play short stack poker, then he quit and went to a 10/20 table w/ 24,5bbs. wtf?

yo stealth, maybe you realize i am good when i am not tilted? maybe you realized that you just have an edge vs me if i am tilted, right? ya, because when i am not tilted you got pwned pretty hard. the problem is i am tilted 80%+ of the time lol.

I don't think I've ever read a post which so stupidly defends a position I agree with.

Urubu,

Are you really that dense that you still don't understand that I do my best to try to tilt you to maximize my win rate?

And unlike you when I lose a few buyins and feel tilted, I have the power to walk away before I start 5betting J238r and burn 40 buyins.
07-12-2009 , 09:49 PM
are you really that dense to tell him?

don't play HSNL but there's a very decent possibility that you can have a reasonably significant EV edge on hellmuth but still be a dog in this bet based on playing styles and what kind of distribution of finishes they favor. then again you probably know that.
07-12-2009 , 09:57 PM
hellmuth has huge ''hidden ev'' because every idiot tries to win pots off him to tell their friends. So stations call even more, blufftards bluff him even more and nits well... theyre nits so theyre way too scared to ever bet against him without the nuts...

yeah, thought about this, but i really think it's a marginal difference and not enough to make a difference

haha 2 months,2 million looks awesome, did you guys get any acting tips or anything, or is this just a documentary?

Would be nice to have something to point to, if someone wonders how someone can be a poker player and NOT be a degenerate or a scumbag.
