I found it pretty vexing. Much better than most vampire movies, and I loved the tone it set, but a few too many just completely ******ed scenarios,
Spoiler:
So, the older brother is going to DROWN the kid who only hit his bully younger brother in the ear, in front of three of his 12 y/o friends, right after chasing out a bunch of other kids who know exactly who he is from the pool?.
It bothers me so much more to see possibly great movies ruined by slipshod scenes than to see a bad movie, and this qualified.

Spoiler:
I was pretty 100% he wasn't intentionally drowning him just giving him a insane close call-scare. That is what they are all about, having power over him and scaring him whenever they went and that how they try to get it this time. I have talked to a very large amount of people regarding this movie and no one has even mentioned exactly this part as bad so its probably a misunderstanding on your part

For those of you who want a condensed, more polished version, the best came from GQ magazine, but it definitely only scratches the surface.

Sorry if this guy is a household name, but I am a huge bball fan and can honestly say I had never heard of the guy.
interesting stuff, thanks

I think The Hurt Locker was incorrectly advertised as a gritty look at the Iraq war, when it is really 5-6 outstanding action pieces set in the Iraq war without any preachy political message and it is probably one of the most original, well acted, well shot action movies in the last while.

hah yeah that was dumb of me - i def wasnt looking to pique enough interest that i would be asked to share stories. though not told to me "in confidence" i'd feel a little weird retelling many stories - not because ive ever heard a negative word about the guy, but just as a matter of trust. (but i'll give a few quick tidbits).

also, it really is amazing that as far as i can tell a negative word has never been spoken by anyone who knows the guy. whenever his name is mentioned people just kind of chuckle or smile, and you can't tell if it's because they are in on some big secret or if the guy is just so unbelievable that all you can do is chuckle.

anyway, quick story - im gonna leave out pretty much all detail but you'll get the gist:

wes is in hawaii and runs into a guy he knows. they were there for something basketball related. so they get to talking and realize they are on the same flight the next day.

(the guy is not someone the general public would ever recognize. he works for someone very famous, but is himself the most average appearing guy you could meet.)

so the next morning the guy is running late and his phone rings and it's wes.

guy: "hey wes"
wes: "yo, where are you? i had you moved up to first class but i dont see you"
guy: "yeah, im running really late, sorry , i guess i'll try to get a later flight"
wes: "no, just get over here, i'll take care of it"
guy: "man, i haven't even left the hotel yet"
wes: "ok, just get to the airport as fast as you can"

so dude gets to the airport. hes 40 minutes late. he goes to check in at the main desk in the terminal. airline personnel: "oh mr. xxxxxxx, yes, right this way". he gets escorted through security, out to the gate etc. at lightning speed. gets on the plane takes his seat next to wes and then the plane leaves. this was like a 777 or something with hundreds of people on it.

just another day in the life of worldwide.

so unreal. the guy is hardly known by the general public but is treated like royalty by literally everyone who matters in the world.

Worldwide Wes is the Phil Ivey of life?

not that non-powerful dont matter, but you get the picture.

so i just got back from 12hrs in the ER with my girlfriend (not going to get into specifics of her case other then to say it appears as though she will be ok but is going to have to stay for like 2more days which sucks big time, but not the point of the post), before they finally kicked me out.

so obv i'm driving 138mph the whole way home (electronic governor on my car for the lose) and have my ipod blasting through the stereo but just want to get home more then anything.

then i get within 1mile of my house and "time" by pink floyd comes on and it made me slow down and literally sit in my car until it finished.

not that incredible a story, just amazed me how the song was so awesome to me that the thing i had been thinking about for the past like 11hrs non-stop just got insta vetoed by a song.

i know music is subjective and some people may not even like "time" but i bet everyone has a song like that, and i think its pretty incredible, as i can't think of anything else that someone can create which can have that strong an effect on another person in a subjective sense.

and its really not just "time".
i know for a fact that "one love" (marley), touch of grey (grateful dead), a ton of zepplin songs, and others i won't keep listing ad nasuem, would elicit the same reaction, and i just think thats ****ing amazing.

sorry for the emo rant.

and?...you are an idiot. When i was playing everyday while i was in school i was doing just fine thanks. When i graduated i basically stopped playing with any regularity and stopped taking it as seriously as i once did. tHanks for your concern though cool dude.
07-28-2009 , 11:38 AM
rbk, at least you have good taste in music
07-28-2009 , 12:32 PM
yeah, time is incredible...

as far as pink floyd goes, wish you were here and the whole animals CD has the same effect on me.

random others: when the levee breaks + other LZ songs, a ton of clapton, and for some reason a lot of robert randolph too...

music is great.
07-28-2009 , 01:22 PM
Coldplay's:Talk, Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter and Black, and the verve pipe's Freshmen all do the same thing to me.
07-28-2009 , 01:29 PM
hendrix version of "all along the watchtower" makes time stand still for ab 4 mins imo
07-28-2009 , 01:30 PM
for newer stuff, Pearl Jam (and Weezer) is/are obv the nuts imo

and i thought all poker player's just liked rap music
07-28-2009 , 01:34 PM
Instead of listing songs (I don't know if I could stop), I'll just say that I have always been amazed as to how much my emotional state is a complete slave to the music I am listening to.

Def some good taste in music here.
07-28-2009 , 01:34 PM
also, The Beatles: While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Clapton on lead
and Van Morrison: Astral Weeks

I'd go on, but I have to leave
