HU challenges, sell bulk hands for fraction of rake, market it like Isildur1 and durrrr challenge, BAM! More regs playing and big bucks for site. But nobody ever reads these so f*** it, double the rake and execute 1 winning player per week!

5 tables where u get kicked of if you sit out is pretty much a KOTH, what would you call it then?
arguments that it would stimulate more action..... well not really,go look this tables all day, nothing happens untill a better reg takes all the tables of the other reg

yes, at start of this system of KOTH in party at the higher stakes there where more battles going on because all these
higher stakes regs think they are the best and get the tables, but in the end everybody knows his ranking and the battles get less to the point where there are like......no battles

How is a formal KOTH system different? Do you get a crown?

They don't open up more tables if all five have games running. The definition of KOTH I've been going by is a HU lobby where there's a set amount of non-full tables at a given limit- not a static amount of total tables.

party has 6 10 20, 5 15 30 and 5 25 50 tables that are very often taken by the same guy at each limit (and sometimes same guy has all three stakes), in effect making it one table a limit cap koth

edit: your comment that they have no new tables opening up when all 5 tables have action is not that relevant given there is rarely reg action on those tables (although still a bit more than on other sites), so all the tables are never full/no new ones would pop up even if the cap wasn't in place

in that regard, party is in practice your formal koth system

Right now I see one guy on all 25/50 and 15/30's, the 10/20's shared between that same guy and two others. I get your point- their system is similar to what I'm suggesting and it doesn't work at the limits they have it at. But I think having KOTH for like 50nl through 5/10 will improve things a decent amount, in terms of how much action happens.

How many regs have you seen playing 3 different players on 3 different stakes at the same time and winning?

I've suggested this before and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned in this thread. How about eliminating public hu tables all together and allow people to create private hu tables for two people who want to play hu. There's a difference between wanting to play headsup and wanting to play headsup exclusively against fish, there's no reason why poker sites should accommodate the latter player.

Party Poker has an invite option where you can invite a player to join your hu table. If we had a system like this it would be easy to get a hu game going on a private table with a willing player. Giving players the option to not receive invites is a good way to prevent people from being annoyed with hu requests.
