Which woman best represents the poker world and which one is the worst representitive? Which woman best represents the poker world and which one is the worst representitive?

I have been thinking about this for awhile now and I was curious what other women thought about this? When I say best represents I am not talking about the best T and A or looks. I am talking about a woman who plays well, is a positive influence in the poker world and overall good person.

With that I would say Kathy Leibert, Vanessa Selbst, Kara Scott and Vanessa Russo. I would say the worst would be Annie Duke, Tiffany Michelle and Erica Schoenberg. Your thoughts?

Annie Duke is an interesting question. I would think that there are a lot of Americans who only know her from her appearance on the Apprentice. I didn't watch the show, but if she seemed even vaguely likable, then casual fans might consider her a positive.

From poker players perspective, I think she's hands down the worst female representative, but I'd be curious to see what people who knew of her only from that show thought.

Best, IDK. I think the females who could be the best representatives, like Selbst and Liebert, and virtual unknowns outside the poker world. So maybe Jennifer Harmon, who is a little better known, I think?

I think Kara Scott is prob a top contender for this description.
She has a wonderful disposition, is a decent player, she is well-liked by everyone - can't actually recall anyone ever having anything negative to say about her. She is also the best, imo, on-air poker TV personality/interviewer.
In addition to all this, she is simply stunning and even more beautiful in person.

Pretty sure that if I had to vote for one female to represent the poker world to the rest of the world, it would be for her.

I have always found Jennifer Harman likeable, i like her attitude at the table and she seems pretty humble.

she seems to get along very well with most guy pros and they seem to have alot of respect for her.

In regards to talking about poker play and strategy i think vanessa selbst is a good representative, she is an awesome player, her thought process and reads are pretty good. She has the results to back it up.

Why Erica Schoenberg as one of the worst? Just because she got nekked or is there some other reason? Don't know anything about her outside of her strip poker video and being engaged to a guy with basically the same name as her.

Jennifer Tilly was good for the game in my opinion. She is not a full time player but she has had success and I'm sure she has drawn people to the game that would never have even watched or played it.

When my parents walk by (both very much not poker players) my mom is mostly drawn to Jennifer Harman, mostly because she looks normal but still plays sharp.

My dad has noticed Jennifer Tilly just because he's a movie buff.

As a poker player, I personally love watching/listening to analysis by Vanessa Selbst, but she's a total unknown outside the poker world.

Aside from many of the wonderful women who post in TWSS , I would say Jennifer Harman as well.

Yeah i watched Selbst in her two final tables that she won back to back, she always thinks out loud and its great to listen to, she is quite smart player. Haha she gets so disgusted with people who make semi bad calls or try bluff against her, its entertaining.
on WSOP coverage 2010 her analysis of a hand against Varkyoni is pretty good and she ends up making the right call and says to him something like....are you serious? what were you thinking etc ... its great.

Annie Duke isn't as bad as everyone says. Granted, she appears to have an ego and could be an opinionated bitch sometimes, but she's definitely trying to popularize poker (and of course herself at the same time given her ego)

I played at one of the Pro/Am satellites when she was the bounty, and she seemed totally cool for the time I was there. The side convos definitely remained interesting, and she wasn't a bitch at all.

Liv Boeree is pretty awesome. She's also a great tournament announcer, honest and critical but insightful and articulate at the same time. I briefly met her, and she's definitely a friendly and nice person. Haha, but she does whine about bad beats a lot on twitter which pros shouldn't do.

Are you ****ing serious? How the hell can anyone say JH after what's going on with FTP? And don't tell me she didn't know anything. She is one of the original team FTP members.

The only reason I didn't say Jennifer Harman is because of the FTP thing. Discounting that, she's pretty awesome. I don't think she was one of the owners, either so that's a little less bad for her.

encouraging people to name women who are bad poker representatives just fosters more lady-on-lady hate and that is the last thing we need. chicks get hated on enough. let's try and keep this thread positive. we really could run the world if we didn't spend so much time snarking on each other.

(that said, i can still vote for annie duke, right?)

+1

Worst is Annie Duke.

What was the name of that girl that ESPN followed around the WSOP Main Event in like 2006 or 2007? I can't remember if she was very good or not, but she was adorable and had a great persona. I think her first name was like Liz or Jen or something short?

I really like Jen Harman and Kathy Leibert, they're both very solid and have been around for a while. Vanessa Selbst is very talented, and I am a big fan but I would like to see her maybe be a bit more mellow sometimes. That will probably come with age.

Agree that we shouldn't get into worsts; it's just divisive. Although in general what bothers me about some of the women promoted by various sites is more about looks than substance, which mirrors a lot of the discussion in the more male dominated forums.

Not sure if anyone saw, but they announced the finalists for the 2011 hall of fame today, and 3 women were on the list. Annie Duke, Jen Harman, and Linda Johnson. I like this development. I also think that Linda Johnson should be a shoe-in, she has done so much for poker in her career. I like Jen Harman, too, one of my favorite pros, and she seems to stay classy and above a lot of the muck that happens in this game.

I think Linda Johnson should easily get in. She's done a great deal for poker and would get the votes for the same reasons that Mike Sexton did. As a face of UB/AP and FTP, I think the others will get passed over for a while. If I had the money to buy a % of someone at the big game, there's no question it would be Jen Harman rather than Annie Duke, which in my mind is the order if the other two ever got in.

+1!

I completely forgot about Linda! I agree so much about Harmon and Duke. In some ways I do feel bad for Annie because she does a lot of fundraising for good causes but the whole UB/AP and EPL scandals really don't help her cause. I would also agree that being the brother of Howard Lederer is a huge -ev at this time which is really unfair.
