where is the live turnout? where is the live turnout?

Another trip to Durant yesterday to play the women's event and another disappointment in the turnout. I know that some of the Series there when they offered two different events for the women may have diluted turnout, but this was the only one on THIS particular WSOPc calendar and it drew a whopping 112 entries including rebuys. I have no idea how many of that 112 was unique players but I know I saw a few rebuys, including one right as the rebuy period was ending since they went out on the last hand of Level 8.

The story has been the same the past few years in Durant and the buy-in doesn't seem to be the factor- turnout sucks even with the $100+juice event (admittedly, it isn't worth four hours each way for a small buy-in event like that but I still generally tried to make it up there). It seems like there was a time where we routinely saw more than 200 runners, although I don't have the time to see which tournament series at Durant that it might have been.

And it doesn't seem like the women had abandoned the $200 ring event in favor of the 2P event that was somewhere around 430 entries when I got knocked out during Level 10 (grunch: flop top two pair and run into middle set).

What, if anything, can be done to increase the turnouts. After all, Durant has a well-run series almost every single time and it is close enough to Texas to draw a LOT of potential entries. The weather sucked on the drive home but it wasn't raining in the morning, so I don't see that being the hindrance, and it wasn't an issue in prior events.
