Random stories from tournament yesterday:

Youngish guy with a baseball hat and Florida Gators sweatshirt opens to 2,400. Gets four callers. Loses pot.

Very next hand I open to 2,300. Everyone folds.

Youngish guy asks, "So 2,300 is the amount to get them to fold?"

Really wanted to respond by saying that being a girl is what gets them to fold, but I thought better of it.

Later in the tournament I ship over an active player's open. He open mucks JJ.

I finally got to meet AAmaz0n IRL. It was one of those wait a minute are you on 2+2 moments. Lots of hugs ensued.

A feature of the tourney we were playing in is that players have bust-out bounties. Mine is always a 20-minute table side back massage. AAmaz0n won my bounty and proceeded to cash in the event.

So nice to finally put a face with the name.

Thanks again. The message was so good that getting dealt a pat full house in 5 card draw was just a bonus. ;-).

Taking a girl out for the first time . Pay the bill skneaky way (go to the bathroom and pay wirhout her knowing); offer to pay the bill, and insist to do so; offer to pay the bill and accept her offer to split the first time she makes the offer to split; or go straight for the split?

None of the above. Make eye contact with the waiter when he or she brings the bill so he or she knows to hand it directly to you, and just pay it without comment or wavering. If she's the rare woman who protests or insists on contributing (and most won't, or if they do they probably don't mean it), tell her she can pick up the tab for ice cream/drinks/the next date/whatever.

so, isn't it better to go sneaky and avoid the awkward let me pay discussion, and let her pay for ice-cream (yummy) after that?

That's my point, you don't make it a discussion. It shows assertiveness and confidence to just take the bill and pay, no discussion. Waiters are generally going to give the guy the check anyways, and by making eye contact and smiling to the waiter when they bring it, they will understand that it should be given to you. Unless you know this to be an issue with this particular girl, most women will simply acknowledge it by thanking you. Some will offer to chip in to be polite (or maybe even to test you), but say it's your treat. you can follow up with the second line if she is particularly insistent, but it's pretty rare that anyone will insist beyond a first attempt (and honestly kind of a red flag imo if she gets really fussy over it, especially after you offer to let her pick up the next one). I assume you asked her out so this is all pretty standard.

OTOH I would find it really odd for my date to leave to pay the check. It's one thing if she happens to be in the restroom when the check comes, but it would seem far more awkward to me for my date to sneak off to pay the bill.

(the logic behind that is that it could be annoying to wait for the bill to come. so I spare her of that burden. and it usually goes like. let's go, we have to pay the bill, no, I took care of that, oh, Ill pay for the next one/dessert/movies/taxi ride/whatever)

This may come as a shock to you, but people like to troll every other forum on 2+2 as well, regardless of the gender of the trollee. This is the only forum that appears to have little tolerance for it.

I'm completely fine with this and would hope that the attitude this forum shows towards it manages to extend to others in 2+2.

What happened to this board? It's deserted. It's days between posts for the entire board. This board was created post BF, so nothing major has happened since then, but the past couple years this board has become a ghost town. Has there been another board created on another site in the last couple years that drew the women posters away?
