I'm a heterosexual male who enjoys looking at attractive women, but I watch WPT for the poker playing, and those girls detract from my enjoyment of that show. "Look at them pretending to play beach soccer !". And the "WPT VIP Bar", or whatever it's called, is sad.

Can a mod or anybody please explain why the standard NVG thread below was deleted?

Well, since this thread is open again, I'm puzzled by something.

Now we don't have the the Royal Flush Girls, we have the Royal Flush Crew. Who are they and what exactly do they do?

Without the matching clothes, I have no idea who in the room is in that crew. Rarely is a member of that "crew" mentioned by name and I don't even know how many crew members there are, or for that matter whether the crew is mostly male or female.

The "girls" may have been annoying. The "crew" seems to be pointless.

Wouldn't that be great to do for the WSOP ladies event? Even more incentive to make the final table. They could come in no shirt with a bow tie and those skin tight pants and rub our shoulders while we play, LMAO! God I'm getting the coolest visual of this (y'all thought I was getting something else didn't ya? , wish I knew how to use Photoshop like a pro.

I've notice that too, I assumed they paid attention to feedback from women and others and have really toned it down without completely getting rid of them. I'm so glad they did. The Best Bet Scramble is only a 6 hour drive for me but I honestly had such an issue with the old RFGs it turned me off to The World Poker Tour completely. I can live with the new crew without all the sexist hype. Pretty glad they've done this with, especially with the current sexist political climate.

I've heard several guys say the same. I think a lot of guys find it as annoying as I do. It's sexist but I think I had as much issue with it just being plain old dumb.

It seems like they've changed the makeup of the RFG team and have made it a lot more diverse. The coed Royal Flush Crew now seem to be operating more in an ambassador role and information source, instead of simply visual ornaments.

Yeah, I don't think the old RFG's could have provided any information on anything, poker related or not. The RFG bar was awkward for everyone involved.

Aware that some of these posts are old, but...

Contrast that to a random woman who goes deep in one WSOP ME and then gets a huge contract for the following years.....basically what I'm saying is that I would gladly make the trade of having Chippendales dancers instead of RFG if it meant that I had the same odds as a female of getting a sponsorship.
This is a fair point in terms of the very top of the industry but doesn't have much to do with the vast majority of people playing.

(below based on experiences in Europe)

Cologne is different because the whole product exists to smell nice for women. If you were working on an oil rig in the Persian Gulf with no women present then there would be no reason to wear it - it makes sense that women one would want to influence would appear in the advert.

Apart from that, pretty much no good products are sold that way, "sex sells" is always the sign that the beer won't taste good. Ads that talk about their ingredients and "master brewers" are what marks our the top of the market. I like women too and am an active poster in the Miss OOT threads - I'm not interested in being political correct and that sort of thing - just if you're selling me something and you try to distract me from the product I'll conclude the product isn't very good.

Sport the same. F1 grid girls, Tour de France podium girls, Poker's RFG. These sports have in common that from the point of view of the spectator they are low quality featuring long hours of time with not much happening. At the top of the market there are no "corner kick girls" in premier league football(soccer) for example.

I guess we've gone full circle and started over. In a recent televised WPT episode, they showed the Royal Flush Crew, in a group like they were standing for a picture. Out of about 10 crew members I saw only one female. I thought that was a little strange, maybe an overcorrection--but wait, there's more!

Right after the RFC group shot, two "Rockstar Energy Girls" in matching tight purple outfits walked by.

On the Under The Gun Podcast #146 I was listening to today the host was complaining that the Hustler Casino should be filled with beautiful women. It rubbed me the wrong way. I can't decide whether to complain to them, or whether I'm being too reactionary, so I'm just whining here instead. :/

I don't listen to that podcast but whenever clips have been linked to from here the host doesn't usually do himself credit but then that's not a representative sample. If he rubs you up the wrong way then don't listen to him. Personally I balance my range by listening to both Thinking Poker (American PC vibe) and Postflop Poker Podcast (Aussie/UK expat/Dutch banter about dating blind girls vibe). There are a few others I've stopped listening to as I felt the content wasn't worth inviting the particular host into my ears.

Moving on to the point. Isn't Hustler the magazine with pictures of nude women from "The People vs. Larry Flynt" though?

The idea of a Hustler Casino is fine (in a city with a wide choice of casinos). People who walk through the door have an idea of what they can expect the product to be and choose on that basis. To me that's a lot different to adding pretty girls as decoration to unrelated basic products.

If you're going to do a Hustler Casino then do it properly and if you're not allowed/willing to do it properly then please don't use traditional male heterosexuality as a modern metrosexual fashion accessory a la playboy. No need to dance on our grave - just rename the casino.
