So I realized, but I also thought that you were out in the community... (That you as your 2+2 account was, I.e didn't think you were the same people...)

Now it all makes sense tho. (idk if it was known that u were dj or if I'm just a dolt)

Had one or two friends said they creeped my 2p2 profile and saw my posts in this thread so knew about me already. No biggie, while I was technically closeted, it wasn't too hard to figure out, either.

Finally told my siblings and a few other people I wanted to tell before doing it just last week, after all of their reactions were positive there was no reason to wait any longer

Congrats to Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted in the NFL. He was taken in the 7th round by the Rams.

They showed a decent amount of footage of him and his boyfriend as he got the call.

SB Nation Out Sports is reporting that Michael Sam's jersey is currently the #2 selling NFL rookie jersey. Pretty impressive considering that all of the other top five sellers were first round picks and therefore available for sale 48 hours longer than Sam's jersey.

Follow up story:

Apparently someone posted a story on the Mizzou Facebook page (Mizzou being Sam's college) that is pretty heartwarming. The poster, a military guy, was watching the draft with his father (veteran), brother (Army special forces) and assorted other former military family members, as well as his 15 year old son. Apparently when Sam was drafted, his son broke down crying and came out.

The dad posted this on the Mizzou FB page to congratulate the university for recruiting a role model that his son could look up to and find the courage to come out.

And that's why, despite the uber-hip who like to sneer a little and say that this shouldn't be a big deal anymore (ho hum people are gay, who cares, the haters will all die off soon anyway, coming out is so passe) are wrong. Until kids aren't living in terror of being who they are, it is important not only for LGBTAQXYZ (seriously I know there are some more letters after this now but I honestly can't keep track, I apologize if I inadvertently offended a letter I left out) individuals to come out and live openly and proudly, but also for the growing number of heterosexuals who DO support equality for all to clap and cheer and celebrate those who come out as well.

Won't you think of the children?

Aww, thats a heartwarming coming out story. It's because of that, that in the spotlight being openly gay is so important.

I know Ryan's playing the WSOP. Anybody else playing any events? I'm stuck at work in LA until September.

I'm still around (not all the time) but would feel more comfortable posting here if there were like 20 people here at least because i like it better if i post something and then lots of people respond.

I read this thread often but don't usually have anything to say. I guess it doesn't help that I practically never play poker anymore.

Some of us just don't have much to say...partner's work schedule conflicts with mine and so even a jump to Lake Charles doesn't really get to happen, which put a crimp in my poker playing. And I feel bad disappearing for a few days to either NOLA or LAS without her...so with little poker content in my life, I just don't post a lot on 2P2 right now.

That being said...I still comment on other posts that I have something of value to add (since, after all, with this not being NVG, content matters).
