Anyone else superstitious about certain objects they own? I know its ridiculous, but I keep a few things on my desk while I play online poker. Definitely +ev.

Gold Mouse ($10 Walmart) and Youtube Mousepad

My Lucky Chinese Cat Teacup (With $1.25 CAD quarters)

And OFC, a book I'm currently reading to make sure I dont lose sight of my other passions.

Anyone who plays live, do you wear any lucky Jewelry or clothing?

Mine is goofy...
I actually had a friend who was a baccarat player. Whenever I ran good, she would track what the moon phase was at that time. She would actually call me on the Full Moon and tell me, "Don't Play Tonight! It's not your Moon!"

So I'm a geeky, dweeby, analytical engineer and I have a hard time believing the whole "Moon" thing. But I swear to God, she was right.

I think I was just subconciously trying to find excuses of why I was losing on the Full Moon and winning on a New Moon.

Thats so funny! A lot of people actually go by moon cycles to make decisions in life. But you are the first poker player I've seen who does! Maybe I should go back and look at my graphs and compare to the moon phases, haha

I wear this for day one of big tournaments. Not because i think it's "lucky" per se (i don't really believe in that), but because i think about what it says and i play more aggressively :P

Hey TennePenne -- your lucky cat may not actually be Chinese. The black writing in the middle is Japanese; I'm not sure about the characters in the colored rectangles. I've always thought the manekineko (the beckoning cat) was part of Japanese culture (coaxing customers and money to you). But, perhaps your cat was made in China.

Diamond setting! Are you a bench jeweler or training to be one? I played around with some stone setting but I wasn't great at it and I didn't want to invest the money in equipment. I have a drawer full of colored stones I'll probably never use.

I don't have photos, but I wear a sort of lucky ring everyday. It's a rainbow moonstone and if you squint at the right angle it looks like there might be a figure of a dog in the matrix. (er, or sometimes an elephant or an anteater.) It's only 'sort of lucky' because I'm usually wearing it when I'm running bad too. *sigh*

I know it's silly 'cause no one can see me online, but I always have my shower, do my hair and makeup before sitting down to play.

Look good, feel good = play good?

You are Probably right. A little embarassing I mislabled the culture, oh well.

I've had some formal training in Jewelry making, but I'm primarily focused on CAD design. I'm studying/learning proper settings so I dont design something unusable. And yes, I dont want to invest the money in the equipment either, Id rather pay a professional stone setter to do it for me (They charge like $5-10 a stone, really cheap)

Also, your ring sounds awesome!! You should post pics if you get a chance.

Warning: SSS

you seem to do better when I don't text you 20 minutes into the tourney asking if you've won yet.

I have a collection of about 30 military coins - my favorites act as card protectors and/or lucky charms. Although, to be honest, not a single one has so far become the stand out "lucky" coin.

Pardon me (a man) butting in, but although you were sarcastic, I think this is very true. To have a chance to play good, you have to feel good (meaning comfortable).

As for "trinkets" when playing live, my fiancee uses her poker queen card protector she got for knocking out a higher up of the poker league we play.

As far as playing online goes, she's my lucky charm.

Here's some of my favorite military coins. Sadly, none have proven themselves to be particularly lucky thus far, but they are quite often conversation starters. Played at Ocean's 11 in Cali two weeks ago and within a half hour I was talking military stuff with all the guys and getting the usual heartfelt "thanks for your service", which is something that really always makes me feel humble and proud. Just thinking about everyone who has served throughout time, and died for their country...it's kind of an overwhelming tradition to try and uphold.

Anyway, I got the vast majority of these coins during my run at Soldier of the Year in 2004. I made it all the way to the All Army level. After I won the Army Europe contest, there was this receiving line where it seemed like every third person slapped a coin into my palm. My pockets were bulging by the time it was over.
