I don't think I ever started an "official" thread before. (Mods do your thing if I wasn't supposed to ..no..don't violate me, just delete it...kthnx)

Anyway - there's a thread like this in pretty much every forum I've posted on, but not so much 2+2. I figure since men post here, also, we can cover everyone who needs a hug, a prayer or a freakin' miracle. I'll point out to those new to this sort of thread, it is not so much for discussion and never for criticism or argument, but only for posting issues and positive feedback. I'll start:

Last winter I was diagnosed with a heart issue I had suspected but not realized was as serious as it was. Tomorrow to doctor to discuss possible invasive procedure that could be very beneficial. There is a probability spread for the various outcomes. So this will be a deal for the next couple months and if you are the type to send good energy or pray or whatever, I'd appreciate it.

listening, I'm sending lots of positive energy your way~ <3

Good thing you set up this thread because I've been feeling in need of some support too.

I've been taking some more flak from my family lately about my boyfriend who plays poker for a living. It's been a constant thing for the last three years and now that I'm coming closer to "marriage" age, I think they're kicking it into high gear to get me to... I dunno, get a new model or something? "Isn't your cousin's boyfriend great? He's Taiwanese, speaks chinese, he's a doctor, he drives a Corvette!!! Why don't you get one like that?" UGHHH.

I'm sure I'm marrying my boyfriend because he is fantastic and we go great together like peanut butter and jelly.

On a better note though, I just accepted a job offer to work as a Design Assistant at a company where I really wanted to work. I'm so psyched! My first day is Monday! I'll be on my way to moving out of this house (again!) (finally!)

Loads of positive energy on it's way from me aswell...
Might be a little slower to get there, needs to come from the other side of the world

And as for suitable boyfriends/husbands...
As long as you're the one living with him, i'm pretty sure you're the only one in the position to comment. but I guess, as usual, they mean well, even if it doesn't come across that way sometimes.

HOLY COW YOU GUYS, WHAT'D YOU DO???

So, I go see this doctor today and all the horribleness has now been downgraded to: "Eh, really, this doesn't look all that bad. Let's try managing it with medication for a while, shall we?"

Oh, HELLS YEAH, let's do that!!!

So, all this increasing scary/badness from doctors over the last few months, just... went away, all of a sudden. Let me thank the Academy.... aka God ... and all those who voted for me (youse gize). Srsly - thanks, everyone.

Weird and wonderful, so, on to other business:

LOL! How subtle. But, well, I'm betting they do this because they love you. That doesn't make it not irritating or maddening, but it does mean they have your best interests at heart. Praying for wisdom and patience on all sides.

Peace be with you. And muy congrats on the new job!!

Don't know quite what kind of problems you were having, Listening, but I started having angina last summer. Docs were on me to take beta blockers, aspirin, statin drugs and such, telling me that my cholesterol had to come down and "you can't lower your cholesterol with diet and exercise."

First off, that's just provably untrue and I disproved them over the last few months by cutting out most carbs and taking nutritional supplements.

Secondly, what they won't tell you is how beneficial a glass of red wine is every day. There is a reason the French get heart disease at a way lower rate than Americans.

I rarely get any chest pains now, even when I exercise hard. Pomegranate juice, Lysine, Vitamin C, Zinc and Magnesium have done all kinds of good things for me.

I have another stress test coming up in two weeks, wish me luck.

Before you buy into any drug therapy, make sure you research out what it is and if it actually does you any good. I swear most docs are a little better than paid shills for big pharma. They'll tout the benefits of things like statins, even when there are studies that it does women no good at all. But they won't tell you a thing about Arginine or Taurine.

there is a wealth of information out there on alternative nutritional supplements that help make your heart healthier. They work with your bodies own mechanisms instead of screwing them up and giving you side effects.

Anyhow, congrats on your good outcome so far and sending good thoughts your way.

Thanks, Shauna, nice informative post.

For women especially:

I was 47 when I had my heart attacks and I had no symptoms my doctor recognized so he thought I was just.. I dunno, an hysterical female? But he was a good doc and did more testing. So, XX people, even if you are pretty young and think it's an old lady's disease, take a look around the 'net at some of the things women experience, be cognizant of your cholesterol numbers, know the difference between HDL/LDL and stay healthy.

Your 50 and and 60s are also fun. (I think more fun, really) than your 30s. Be fit enough to enjoy them!

Sending you some good heart prayers, Shauna!

I was following my friend's Twitter feed all day today about the tornadoes (she lives in Oklahoma) and know people who had family / friends in Joplin, MO.

Please stay safe!

Ok, well that was a scary 3.5 hours.
All is well here in North Texas.
Lots of rain, but no hail or tornados, as had been predicted.

I have been having heart pain for the last couple months, need to go get checked out... This is good to know. I agree that doctors just push drugs at you. Have you seen the documentary "Food Matters?" It's pretty great and delves into that subject.

Rylee, my Scottish Terrier, is going in next week to have a sonogram and biopsy performed for elevated liver enzymes.

I am all too familiar with the hospital we are going to for this procedure. I have been there twice - once with one of my horses and once with my previous Scottie - and both were gone within a few months of being diagnosed there. It is not a happy place for me.

So please send positive thoughts if you can for Rylee. I realize for many, pets are not important, but she is literally my life.

(For those of you who don't know, I have lost 4 animals in the last 10 months. 2 elderly dogs and 2 cats. So this is a particularly difficult situation.)

TWSS ladies and friends are on my prayer list. I hope and pray that by God's grace you all are well.

If you have time please say a prayer for my Grandma and family. Surgery was a few days ago. Things looking ok but she's 87, and anything can be a struggle at 87.

Loving the thread, great idea.
