I'm stuck in a rut - 11 days short of turning 22, I don't have many friends. I've been feeling super lethargic lately and while I poker, I wanna be a regular girl sometimes.

Note: this isn't an advice thread or a thread about me.

Post stuff you do. Vamo!

I let poker take up a lot of my time, too, and a majority of my friends and my social life revolves around poker and casinos.

Sooo I just joined a Philly soccer league on Thursdays and I'm also planning a couple weekend hikes.

While poker takes up a good chunk of my waking moments, I too, am working on balance.

I play Wed-Fri(staying at the casino) and Sundays. I am trying to cut down on strat talk, online playing, watching poker TV, etc during my "off" days. So far, not very successful.

I shop alot, mostly online. I also kill it at Words With Friends. I have started a good side business by playing against some fellow poker players for money.

I also am a way better than average cook. It is a passion that my husband and I share. We love food programming(not that crap Food Network BS) and are fans of Thomas Keller, Joel Robuchon, Hubert Keller, Susar Lee and many others.

I coach high school softball in the spring and play on my own team on Wednesday nights in the summer. Usually about once every 1-2 months my girlfriends and I will find some excuse to get together, drink wine (sometimes tequila ), and eat food off the charts in fat content. My husband coaches football and track and my little brother in law plays three sports so even when i'm not coaching or playing my own i'm usually a spectator at some event. I'm also an obsessive reader. I'd happily sit and read for eight hours a day if someone would pay me to do it. I have yet to see that job posted anywhere though so I try to limit it to an hour before bed.

I find that when I get away from doing these things, my poker game usually goes into self-implode mode. Balance is super important for poker players imo.

In my spare time if I'm not playing or studying my new passion of poker (work full-time and raising a teenager), I like to go camping/fishing/boating. My husband also roped me into watching Nascar a few years ago, and I got completely hooked and watch most races in all three series. We went to a couple of races live and they were a total rush! I also used to read alot, but now just listen to audio books on my Ipod (so I can do other stuff while I listen). I guess I'm just totally ADD and like to try all kinds of different things. Just not enough time in the day to do everything I like. Oh, well, like my husband always says, "I can sleep when I'm dead".

obviously Im a dude but lethargic at 22 to me means just jump up off that sofa and enjoy the cool weather and get some out door exercise. Just have some active fun in the sun. IT does a body good.

My favorite hobby outside of poker is golf. I picked it up when I first moved to LV and got hooked! My goal is to get to an 18 handicap (bogey golf) by the end of the year Right now I'm around a 24.

I watch a ton of sports on TV (Eagles, Yankees, and Syracuse Orange are my top teams), and I have been in the same fantasy football league for 8 years.

I try to read in my spare time as well. Mostly modern fiction (Paul Auster, Philip Roth, Ian McEwan, Jonathan Lethem, Michael Chabon, etc.)

There are a couple of new toys in my life: Xbox Kinect and iPad2, so I've been playing more games lately.

oooohhhh Danielle, I hope you have a Kindle!! I got mine a few months ago and am obsessed with it. lol. I used to be an avid reader of all types of books, but poker takes up most of my reading time now. And physical books are cumbersome to transport to wherever I am traveling/staying. However, now that I have the Kindle and my cute little blue leather case complete with built-in light () I have been reading a lot of great books lately. It fits in my purse so I can take it anywhere!!

Man, I hear such great things about the E-books but I have to admit I almost feel guilty turning away from the paper books. There is something just so traditional about a printed book ya know? I enjoy taking my three year old to the library and i'd hate the thought of them losing out to technology. However, i'm sure my laziness will eventually outride my conscience and i'll give in to buying one.

I know, I kinda feel the same way too...I have probably 10 bookcases in my house in Dallas full of books - some are from when I was in middle school! Just can not/will not get rid of them! But I am totally in love with this thing.....and it has me reading normal-person material again

A few years ago, I would have laughed at my following hobbies. I love camping, fishing, canoeing, and hauling my fat ass up atop mountains on day hikes. I am in terrible shape, so when I do go on a hike at the first of the season, I'm usually pretty miserable. In the end, I find it awesome and motivating because I hate the gym. I also love taking pictures!

Great thread idea!

Poker obv takes up a ton of my time (I bet I say the word hundreds of times in a given day lol.)

My other hobbies:
* Cooking/Foodie things/Wine-- I went to culinary school before I went pro in the pokers. I really enjoy cooking, eating (which I hope is a hobby for everyone lol), and learning more about/drinking wine.

*Writing-- obv. At FSU I majored in creative writing with an emphasis in poetry. Wonder how many pro poker players did that lol. In addition to blogs/articles I write the occasional poem.

*Painting-- Going to Paris earlier this year re-inspired a love of impressionist art that began in college. I particularly enjoy pointillism. I painted this, a trypic that is about 5' by 7' (sorry for terrible camera phone quality and just being a beginner in general):

Up close:

*Singing/playing acoustic guitar-- I should do the guitar part more often; usually I only get to sing in the shower or while I am grinding.

*Reading, a lil bit of everything but right now re-reading Theory of Poker.

*Working out-- doing p90x with hubby. Also enjoy hiking, yoga and weightlifting. I really miss hiking in the woods with Wilbur every day in MD, here he is walked for ~an hour on the trails near our house.

* Scrap-booking, knitting, going to Movies

I'm exactly the same, but with the Kindle prices falling ever lower I think it'll be really hard not to just grab one soon. There's just something so lovely about a solid book, it smells and feels really nice. Its great when you start reading in the morning and end up finishing the book, realising it's now 6pm and you've "wasted" the day

Other than reading, most of my time I spent either playing the piano (usually about 3 hours a day), crosstitching (excellent activity to do in the summer, sitting outside in the garden) or watching movies. I'm trying to get through the imdb top 250 atm, at about 176 now.

I read a lot too - right now I'm reading "One of a Kind: The Rise and Fall of Stuey "The Kid" Ungar..." and I just started "All She Was Worth" by Miyuki Miyabe. Maybe some day I'll get an e-reader but I'm notoriously cheap when it comes to myself, and I work in a library so it's easy enough to get any book.

I also watch a lot of old movies and like to go to the theatre to see them when I can. I try to get out in the world as much as possible to "do stuff" - be downtown, expose the kids to museums, garden, dine out, just be involved in the city. This can be difficult because I'm also very lazy :P

I also work on my old house, go to thrift shops, collect tiki mugs, and mix polynesian drinks, but drinkng them is on hold til memorial day so I can lose some weight. Damn Atkins. As for exercise, I alternate between working out a lot at the Y and complaining about my bad knees.

Surfing the net, fashion (purses and jeans), researching things that I want to buy (Vitamix, mascara, eyelash primer, perfumes), going to the gym, shopping, eating out, scrapbooking and card making, watching hockey, watching youtube videos, spending time with friends...damn I'm boring!

I'm thinking about reading it. I like to read the book before I see the movie, and this is a movie that *TT* actually wants to see

LMK what you think!

I fail pretty hard at life.

Poker takes up so much of my time (~80 hours a week at the moment) & leaves me so exhausted I never want to do anything after I grind.

At the moment I watch a lot of TV. I don't even watch it on TV though, I torrent it and watch it on my laptop I NEED TO ****ING GET OFF THIS THING!!
I also force myself out to a bar once a week for beer, food & a few hours of socialising.
I make sure I always have nicely painted nails so I still feel somewhat like a girl, opposed to the robotic clicking machine I have turned into.
