My boyfriend isn't into poker at all, however he is a very smart guy and understands most of what i explain to him about the game. The amount of variance, math, ect... He understands its a game of skill and that while playing mtts i will have many losing months.
He thinks its a pretty cool job overall, and understands how stressful it can be.
I think he is ok with it because i never let it affect me away from the table. Like when i had a -15k week i wasn't depressed or w/e when we hung out after, and it was by far my worst week ever. He is ok with listening to me talk about it and tell him about my days, whether i lost 3k or won 10k, he's glad to listen about how it went.
My family is cool with me playing poker and being gay, which is pretty awsome.
