What are we going to do?

Thanks everyone for being flexible - the draft time is now set to be Tuesday, Sept 2nd at 10pm EST. I will not be considering any additional requests to move the time since we are too close to the date now and we need to get the league filled out. The updated list includes:

I am operating under the assumption that the bottom three lost interest since it has been more than a week since last communication and none of them have paid. I'd really like to get to 10 at least so please send anyone that might be interested this way! I have cross posted in SE as well.

As a political statement, I am going to refuse to pick any player who has publicly made an issue of showering with Michael Sam.

Fortunately that only leaves out ESPN, who is having a bad year anyway. ;-)

Wish I noticed this/we talked about it before, but I didn't notice it until the draft... I thought we had mentioned the idea last year of changing back the waiver wire process to what it was 2/3 years ago, rather than the waiver order set to reverse team rankings? Or does ESPN not let us do this?

Also, how the hell did I misclick during an NFL draft? Lol....

Not sure what change you're referring to, though - pretty sure waivers have always been the standard setting (inverse of the standings for that week).

I can't believe I didn't notice this before (guess you usually don't notice something until it happens to you)... But I think the magnitude of the negative points on DST for yards allowed is ridiculous in this league. I see that it was the same settings last year which is why I can't believe I didn't notice it earlier... But it was absolutely not the case in our former Yahoo league, and definitely not the standard. Pretty much need the defense to make plays to get any kind of positive points... Might as well not even play a defense in some cases, which is ridiculous.

I don't mind including negative points for yards allowed... But this many is absurd.

The def scoring is set to ESPN's default. I think what happened with CIN is pretty rare - usually at most it's a couple of negative points. Yahoo definitely allows negative points (albeit not to the same degree), but it goes both ways. GB had 23 points this week, which you wouldn't see with Yahoo either.

?? 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 1 touchdown, and 10 points allowed would have been pretty close to 23 points, even in Yahoo's setting (22 pts, I believe).

I think it makes much more sense relative to other positions for defense to earn 5 pts for less than 100 yards allowed compared to losing 5 pts for 450-499 yards allowed (and up to -7 for YA, combined with -5 for PA- -12 total!) which not only is practically impossible for any other position, but 450 YA isn't even that radical...

Guess I misremembered that, but either way it's been this way since last year. It's the default setting but I'm happy to talk about switching it for next year if everyone feels the same way. Either way I wouldn't be too worried, Seattle would have to be pretty much shut out for you to lose this week 😄

A little more than halfway through the season and competition has been tight with a five-way tie for first! Just wanted to remind everyone that we have a game in London this Sunday that kicks off at 9:30 am EST, so make sure to set your lineups early if you have any players affected

Straight from the ESPN website: "How do playoff tie breakers work?"

"TIE-BREAKER FOR PLAYOFF GAMES
The system does not observe your league's Regular Season tiebreaker rule during the playoffs. Rather, in the event that two teams have the same number of points at the conclusion of their playoff game, the system tiebreaker awards the win to the higher seeded team."

We had fewer total fantasy points in the regular season, but that should only be for playoff seeding tie-breakers... we outright had the better regular season record, hence seeded higher....

I checked on ESPN's website and found the same rules that you did. I gave ESPN a call to find out what was going on, and I'm afraid the result is that there was no tie and Team O'Brien won the match-up outright.

I set up fractional scoring to keep ties from happening, but ESPN explained to me that for aesthetics they only show scores one decimal point out. However, if you go to the match-up and click on "box scores," you can hover your mouse over the final score to see it unrounded. In this case, team O'Brien has 114.12 points, while you had 114.10. Please go and check it out for yourself - it looks like this was about as close as it could get, sorry for the confusion

Wow - I wanted to post this here in case anyone hasn't seen it yet, but ESPN made a late stat correction last night and LVD is now in the superbowl instead of Team O'Brien. It looks like changes were made to Jonathan Stewart and Jarvis Landry, which put LVD at 114.3 vs 114.1 for TO. You can view the stat corrections by going to Scoreboard - Stat Corrections. I didn't think they made corrections this late - so sorry the result was changed this late.

Yeah, that was a really rough break for O'Brien.... I was confused/shocked when I looked on Thursday to see that we were playing Crazy Eyes. Definitely though stat corrections would've been made by Wednesday morning at the latest when they do waiver wire...
