Hello! I've played poker on and off for about 4,5 years, either not serious or trying to be serious but failed. I recently came to a bit of an epiphany about my life that pursuing poker would be very ideal for me for several reasons. I think my self distance is good enough to say that I think that I have a lot of talent and the potential is sky high, but my discipline and self control has been awful and made any progress impossible. However now my motivation has gotten stronger because of a number of life reasons and I'm getting pumped to prove it for you and myself. I am looking in to your programs and is trying to decide which one to start in, since HU, 6max and SNG all seems very exciting. Right now Im leaning towards SNG because of ben and the fairly high mathematical aspect of it (im very strong at math and enjoy it). On the other hand HU is probably where you can earn money the fastest and 6max with Alan's database skills could be a good investment in my own skills that may pay off the most over time. Im currently in uni studying so I dont have 12 hours a day to spend but I should also be able to spend more time than most people with a full time job.

So, TL;DR, what would you recomend for me? Right now it's leaning towards SNG but it's far from a definite desicion.

EDIT: Also I wonder which are the BRM limits you recomend for each type (SNG, HU, 6-max), ie how many BI do I usually need.

Hi Olekia,

based on what you write, you have a pretty good understanding of the advantages of each program. Really nothing i can add here.

I'd usually say go with SNGs since that seems your #1 choice right now and at the end of the day the same skill is needed to succeed in any variant. Mainly that is HOLDING ON when others give up.

However, you mention your time is limited and while that is not a problem in any of our programs (you decide how much you play...we are flexible), when Variance is very high in SNGs, this could kill motivation especially the less you play, the higher the variance will "feel" to you emotionally.

It's like flipping a coin where you have a 60% edge. If you only flip once and lose, it doesn't feel like 60%. If you flip the coin 1000 times each day, you'll feel pretty close to 60% every day.

For that reason, with little hours i suggest you start with 6max, taking advantage of Alan's Database research (many other cool things, but this seems to have caught your attention most).

Bankroll is less important than skill. If your skill level is low, you start with the lowest buyin. Having 1million bankroll doesn't help you anything if you are -EV at a level (well, ok, you endure longer lol, but ur a math guy, so i don't have to explain lol).
Aka, 20 buyins at the lowest level, this means roughly $50 will be fine. Generally speaking 50buy-ins is a safe choice at higher levels.

Good answers! However as I hinted before. Skill wise im way above that in my opinion, so if 6-max Ill do the higher course right away and start with 25NL which should be 600 dollar BRM to start with. I will think a bit more about this and make a choice little later!

Sure, you can do that and we are flexible enough just in case you can always take a step back anyways. So NL25 is fine.
We take a longterm view on things, so either way you're gonna be fine!

November is over and I'd like to share with you the results of our top 5 winners!



As you can see, the student "hugocabret" hit his first 10k month inside our HU program. Funny thing is that one day before the end of November he had €7184 in profit, and in the last day he hit his record day, booking €2896, and hitting the 10k mark!

It was a great week for hugocabret! Apparently making €10k last month is not enough for him, so he decided to make €10k in a week!

In other news, yesterday we had our first online tournament! We had 76 entries and the winner was bluffin.JAJA. Congratulations!



Fun fact about the tournament: We had no breaks due to a technical mistake, but who needs to eat or go to the bathroom anyway?

Despite having no breaks, players had a lot of fun playing the MTT. We'll definitely have more in the future. So you missed this one, you'll be able to join in the next one!
