I am cash game player, but I would love to learn how to play tournaments. I went across your SNG program and I thought maybe I should try that (5k at start and then 60k). I know your cash games system, as I bought your ebook and videos. I like simplicity and effectiveness of your system and I hope you have a similar system for SNG. I have an idea about MTT and SNG. I was working with Icmizer for a while, so I know how it works. I have a few questions before I join:

1. Do you think learing SNG its a good way to become a good MTT player? I'm thinking about playing 18-, 45-, 90-, and 180- man SNG, which are part of your program I believe.

2. I've read that Ben recommends playing turbos and hypers, but as a cash player I would love to play regular speed due to my postflop skills. Is it possible to play only regular speed of 18-, 45-, 90-, and 180- man SNG during your CFP program?

Hi, learning SNGs will increase your MTT skills (in particular final table skills), however we don't coach MTT SNG in the program.

The program is focused on 6-max SNGs. You can add in the occasional MTT or MTT SNG when you play, it's not "forbidden". But the program is about 6-max SNGs.

The speed really doesn't matter that much, but the reality is most action is on hypers and turbos, if you only play regular speed you will have a lot longer waiting times.

In short, looks like what you're looking for may not be the best fit with our SNG programs.

Oh really??? I mean its a kind of surprice for me. I read something different on your site. Actually, let just quote from your threat:

Does it mean you made some changes recently?

Yes, the program is focused 6-max SNG formats.

The program is focused on 6-max SNGs. As said, you can add some other formats of SNG when you play to have more volume, if needed - it's not "forbidden". Some guys do play other formats as well.

But the program is focused on 6-max SNGs, you should not expect to specifically learn other formats; though again, the skills are very similar.

In other words, you are allowed to play 180mans, but you will not specifically be trained to play them.

Specific training is done for the 6max formats.

I am going to join your SNG Apprentice program. Let me just ask you few more questions:

1. From reading your posts on this forum I know than Gordon doesn't do a group (or 1 on 1 like you call it) coaching on 6max Micro anymore there are other students who do it for him. What about SNG Apprentice though. Does Ben still do any coaching for the lower lever of SNG program or he has a studens who do it for him?

2. I bought your NOBS ebook and NOBS video pack, so I know your standard lines for cash and I really like them. Do you have standart for SNGs as well? Or some general guidelines or strategy?

3. For the cash program your students have a database analisys (every 10k hands if I'm not mistaken). Do you have a database analisys for SNG studens as well?

Hi,

Yes, Ben does coaching also with the SNG Apprentice group, but his best students are also leading sessions now. This may change in the future as more students get even better and they may lead more sessions, that's one way things can evolve. It's not guaranteed, but I want to put it here for anybody reading this in a few months time.

There are guidelines, but keep in mind no coach has 100% the same style and approach. We have systems in place that will take you up level by level. Alan Jackson does DB analysis only for cash games at the moment. That might change in the future, but currently 6-max takes all of his time since we're doing some great stuff there and want to go even deeper.

Also if you ask why...

* It's easier than ever to succeed, despite many saying games get "tougher" (in a way they do, but we evolve faster, so this is where the net extra profit comes from)

* I want to build things even bigger and have limited time & resource. I always have an open door for people who put in the big hours

* The very small contracts... i mean, just to put things into perspective, when this all started, i wouldn't talkt to anybody who wasn't willing to do a 100k contract with hardcore conditions.

So today what you get is a system that one could argue is even better at an 80% discount, but without me doing lots of 1-1 for smaller players.

Same is true and can probably be said for somebody like Ben as well ( can't speak for him), whose time is worth a lot as well. He is the #1 player in the world after all in his discipline.

With the micro contract we want to bring in smaller players, give them a shot, but you have to understand that it can't have 100% of the benefits of the bigger contracts.

That makes financially no sense for us, but would also be unfair to players.

I like your detailes answers. I fully understand your points. Unfortunatly your post suggest Ben might be replaced on Apprentice sooner rather than later, but thats just life I guess. Personally I hope it won't happen that soon though, as I'm hoping to join in few days.

By the way, will I be able to make a use of NOBS standard lines in early stages of SNG? Considering I will be playing turbo/regular.

NOBS might be useful, but Ben has his own way that works vs the population. Aka, you will start at 0.

The best way to get attention from somebody like Ben and myself is to simply out-work everybody else. then no matter what, there is always a way around.

Aka, show that u are serious, put moeny where ur mouth is and u will get everything u ask for!

I am an o8 specialist. I have an FTOPS title and a SCOOP runner up finish in o8. I grind mostly 5card PLO8, nlo8 and plo8 cash up to $10/20 as well as tournaments in those formats. What would you recommend for me?

I would recommend you focusing on ONE game and become really good at it.
Based on your description i think you're best with 6max Cash games, since you like variety and SNGs are very detail oriented mathematical games.
Not saying that 6max cash isn't, but in a different way.
