also, do you tell people about how much money you gamble? like gambling 10k in a day isn't even that abnormal. sometimes i want to tell people about my day, but i feel weird talking about that kind of money. and i think people get the wrong idea. like people might think something like "oh he played poker for 10k today. he must have an extra 10k to play with" or "he played poker for 10k. he must be some kind of addict or something."
I typically just talk about it in terms people can understand, I say Poker the way we play it isn't really a gamble, you establish a 'ROI or Return On Investment' and generally after 1,000 games you have a pretty good idea of what your ROI will be over a long term, i've played over 20,000 games so my ROI is basically a certainty (within reason), meaning if I have a 10% ROI, every time I risk $200 I make $20 from that, I typically play 20-30 games a day at X limit, so over the long run, I would make $X (I don't always say the limits I play, I typically use $100s for easy math), but sometimes they ask and i'm obv fine with it to tell them exact figures, but just basic stuff like that, I try to make them see it in a term of investment kind of, once we find out our ROI it's just playing X games = $XXX in the long run, etc., and I find people understand this pretty easily
