THE WELL: JACKSTACK99

A stranger is being shown around a village that he has just become part of. He is shown a well and his guide says "On any day except Monday, you can shout any question down that well and you'll be told the answer."

The man seems pretty impressed, and so he shouts down: Why not on Monday? and the voice from in the well shouts back: Because on Monday, it’s your day in the well.

I owe everything I have due to the game of poker. Feel free to ask me anything you want.

i started out playing poker probably 15 years ago in home games with friends, then eventually some of my friends told me about online poker. and the rest is history

i respect anybody in the poker world that has stayed at the top for a prolonged period of time. you see many players come and go, but the true warriors stick around for the long haul.

what keeps me driven is that i love to play the game of poker, its a mental challenge. and unlike some other regs i find great joy in my grind. ive always wanted to be an inspiration to others and help in any way that i can. there is nothing that beats the feeling of when someone comes to you and says " thanks a lot man, you've really changed my life"

i dont have any exit plan, id like to play poker for as long as i possibly can. another option for me is to do real estate flipping, or real estate developing but this is wayyy down the line. ive always loved houses since i was young so i would find great joy in that as well

greatest obstacle ive overcame is by far mental game, thinking bigger and realizing that your capable of doing anything when you put your mind too it. and also opening my mind to being a continous learner, the learning never stops and if your not learning your falling behind always

**** tough questions kyle, toughest person is really hard to say i cant really answer that, every 1k reg was tough. but its the nature of the game really, you have to be willing to play very tough players and challenge yourself

grinding mtts easy, although i did enjoy working at tgif

mann way tooo many out of line nights when i was younger, you wouldnt really think it now looking at me and how i dont really party much. but its because i got super sick of it in my young 20s, countless nights of drinking too much and throwing up everywhere

Re: THE WELL: JACKSTACK99

ty for this one!
couple of questions from my side

- what advice would you give players to get a better mindset? / how have you become mentally that strong? were you a tilting machine in earlier days or like a natural talent?

- do you see bots as a danger in hu sng´s?

- do you play stars only?

- have you battled for each division on your way to 500s, or did you skip some?

- on stream you said, that you have played about 20k games against the 1k group. whats the reason you currently dont play them and do you think you will enter this group soon? also how many games did it take for you to get in "lower" divisions?

thanks in advance and also thx for the latest streaming. it was very helpful and i would love to see you more streaming

i would advise them to read mental game of poker part 1 and 2, that will help with perspective. ive become mentally strong from a combination of reading books and adapting a great mindset/prespective and also by going through a lot of bad runs and gaining experience and becoming numb to it. i was never a tilting machine but i did have some tilt episodes and some bankroll management issues very early in my career, luckily for me i was able to stop those immidiately. its a terrible feeling when knowing you shouldnt be playing in certain games and then playing them anyways and going broke. bankroll management just "feels" better and you will have less mental swings, thats something i got great at early in my career and always was very conservative when moving up in stakes

bots are a danger only if pokerstars allows them to continue playing on there site, they have done a pretty good job at banning a lot of them so i dont see it as a major issue as of now

yes i only play on pstars

i was playing 500s even before divisions were created, but i was one of the few who battled regs even before divisions were created. back then anybody sat wherever they wanted too but i played certain regs anyways because i believed i can beat them and had an edge, and also very ego reasons back in the day. So when the original 500s group was created i was naturally in there because ive been playing those games forever and defending the lobbies even before we made divisions

i played about 20k games and ran about 200k under ev, so i instantly went on a 200k downswing and also i was getting crushed in the stock market during the same period of time. and at the time i went back to new york for a week to visit family and when i came back, there were two new players shooting for 1ks who ppl thought were bots. i figured there was no point in continuing to get to 1ks becasue even if the original 1k regs decided to let me in, then the bots would likely play me 12 hours a day anyway, and also we werent sure that pstars was gonna do anything about the bots and a couple of 1k regs even moved down to 500s. So i decided to go back to 500s. and about a month or two after those two players were banned from pstars.

Re: THE WELL: JACKSTACK99

Do you think it's still plausible to move up into the high stakes in 2017? If so, what technical skills do you think most lower stakes players unable to advance are lacking?

If you feel like you'd be giving away too much by answering, no problem Nice well so far!

You're optimistic about online NLHE specifically? Are you just an optimistic person, or do you really think there are good reasons to think the future of online poker is bright?

ill assume you mean move up into the high stakes hu hypers, at this point i think you either have to be a bot, or play just like a bot to move up. the higher stakes regs have studied piosolver more then anyone and also we have played soo many games within eachother. When you constantly play great players you expand and get better yourself. and i think its the main reason why there is a huge skill gap between high stakes and mid stakes
