how much of the nosebleeds is just survival of the best reg and how often do you get droolers at your levels? what levels do you think the fish at your level would comfortably beat?

Hey Croix,

Thanks for doing this. What is your process for identifying and fixing leaks? How do you first find them and when you do, how do you go about fixing them?

Do you ever make a play or call and say "why did I do that"? and do you do anything to ensure it doesn't happen again?

Hi Croix,

i am new here. I have a question concerning poker related books. Would you please name 2-3 books that are a must read for a poker player who wants to improve and why?

thx!

when you were at the lower levels, did u table select by shark scoping your opponents before you played them or did u just register for any heads up sit n go available? also, do you like to only play a certain time zone for the day, say like 5pm to 12am since people get off work or do you just play anytime you feel like it? i feel like table selecting is the best thing, but everytime i try to input someones name in sharkscope, the table fills up very fast. do you have any tips for me to table select at the lower levels so i can avoid the regs or decent winners? do you also ever register for a heads up sit n go first and wait for people to join or do you always have to have someone registered first so you can look up their stats?

i like watching your videos. i see you make hero calls a decent amount of the time. do you think making hero calls to go with your gut instinct is crucial in bringing your game to the next level even though it would cost the game sometimes?

Hey croix big fan from Mongolia here

Some questions for fun

1. Who is gonna win the Super Bowl this year?

2. How do you feel about the Colts not going for the 16-0? basically forfeiting the game to the Jets. It sucked for me because I stayed up all night all season to watch them go 14-0 on NFL.com gamepass. Then they just tank their last 2 games

3. Do you bet on sports? Especially on NFL games?

4. Do you like soccer? if so what teams? what players?

5. Mike Tomlin or Bill Cowher?

alot of playing higher stakes is being able to stand your ground against regs. if you are able to prove yourself as being a threat to them then you will be able to scoop alot of the softer action. the fish at my levels vary greatly..from those who could beat 22s and 33s to those who would struggle to beat 5s.

Alot of times it really just helps to review an entire match and pinpoint the hands where you were confused or think that you played a hand wrong. Bringing these hands up to friends or in the forums and getting insight makes a world of difference. It will help you see things you might not have been before.

Yeah, I definitely find myself in spots where i'll click call and literally say 'that was bad'. For me, sometimes its unavoidable and I'll just tell myself to make a plan and not snap it off next time.

Did you ever have an "aha" moment, where things started to click for you or moment(s) you can look back at that hugely aided your game... or was it more of steady progression before taking off huge?

I haven't really read many poker books but for general knowledge I'd probably read theory of poker. After gaining a basic knowledge I would read the forums pretty often as there are alot of good players who post strategy/thought processes.

I used to only table select a few years ago, but recently I've been sitting first. I feel like I'll miss out on alot of volume is I'm just trying to snipe bad players. I think the best thing to do in your case is just sit first (obviously if properly rolled) and gain experience from the regulars that will play you. Its going to be awfully difficult to move up stakes if you dont have a good grasp on regulars and their styles and at least be able to be competitive v. them. Don't worry, you will still get a bunch of fish sitting you anyways.

Sorry I missed this first time around.

a. Love the guins. Hopefully this year they can make up for the Steeler misery
b. Yeah, this option would definitely work well. Would be fun to do some live coaching (and it'd be alot cheaper)
c. No, haven't played an EPT in awhile. Just got back from AC and that 10 day trip burnt me out like no other. From now on probably just gonna take poker trips to fun places.

I like playing live hu cash, even though its pretty rare. Online I just really enjoy playing HUSNGs. Can't put my finger on it exactly I'm just comfortable playing them and for me they are relatively stress free. Early on when I only played on Stars I remember when you would play someone heads up the button would be messed up and that kind of drove me away from them. I've thought about dabbling in cash but at the moment I think the field is too saturated to make it a permanent thing.

Yeah, I think being able to trust your gut and go on feel is very important to developing as a player. You shouldn't be worrying about the times that you herocall and are wrong as that will make you gunshy. Try saving the hand histories where you herocall and start keeping stats on those hands. Seeing how many times you were right/wrong and the total EV of when you herocalled will help you know if you are doing it too much or if its working.

do you use any tricks to make yourself look at long term results, not short term? say for example, you only cash out after playing 200 games. i know you multi table as well, any other tips for putting in volume when you single tabled? do you force yourself to play X amount of games in a day or X amount of games in a week? i know you started out playing regular speeds on stars, so how exactly did you put volume when games can last as long as 30 min?

Man thats crazy..I was seriously thinking to myself just yesterday if anyone plays online in Mongolia. Ulan Bator?

1. I've gotta say either the Colts or Chargers. Love Peyton hes an absolute beast, but the bolts have been unreal lately. Whoever makes it out of the AFC will win it..Chargers.

2. It hurt as a Steeler fan watching them tank like that and having the Jets win. Gotta admire their coach for having the balls to bench the starters and make sure everything is in sync for the playoffs. Who knows they could've had a Welker situation.

3. Yea I bet sometimes. NFL is probably the most fun sport to bet just because you are never really out of any game. I used to bet with juice (stupid) but now its almost all juice free..so makes it more fun.

4. I was on a big soccer craze 2-3 years ago and still follow it a little bit. Favorite player hands down Messi..got his jersey 3 years ago when he was still up and coming. I like Barcelona but wouldn't say I have a favorite team.

5. Still gotta go with Cowher but Tomlin is f'n awesome. Google a Mike Tomlin press conference..jsut the way he speaks is sick..tough not to like the guy.

I think I posted earlier in the thread but it was when I had a 100k roll and was playing 5ks/10-20 nl and 10-20 plo. I proceeded to lose it all in a pretty short timespan and was miserable. My hero bud Vinny sent me 2k to get me back on my feet and I started grinding 100s. After that experience I told myself that playing super high and having those massive swings wasn't worth it for me. Shout out to Vin..you the best.
