What do you think is the main difference between your poker skill level and the likes of livb, h2olga, r-q, spams etc who made the move up to play 5ks.

I know you played some 5ks but weren't a reg at them, why not? Why are you not the best HUsng player in the world?

Just wondering what you think separates you and those who beat the highest of stakes.

Hard to say how much of it is balls and how much of it is natural talent. It's some combination.

can you post some of your SB stats for STs? i'd be interested in vpip/pfr/fold23bet for different stacksizes (if you have sat down and written those down at some point - which i guess you have ).

€: i know this is greedy but limp/fold and limp/call would be interesting too

What you mean by "natural talent"?

Yeah this. I find it really hard to believe that natural talent in poker is a real thing. Aren't all poker skills, including the ability to handle swings etc just a result of things you've experienced throughout your life? Skills that can be learnt by anyone who works hard enough?

Ability to learn, some of which is nature, some of which is nurture. See item 1 in rumnchess 2010 TOTY.

Most people, no matter how hard they work, will never get to the top of the game (I say this having not done that, it's debatable if I would/could have). But most people can also be successful at poker of they work hard enough. To get to to the very top you have to have uncommon natural ability in picking up the game, same as pretty much all pursuits.

not to steal his thunder, but obv some people have more natural talent at puzzle solving and handling swings etc

learning those skills is partially natural talent too.
There are people who spend hours and hours with watching videos and reading threads but they´re still at the micros.

Even if some1 would retrace every step mers has done since he started playing poker its not even close to guarenteed that person would be where mers is right now.

in my opinion, which nobody will care about in a well. just felt like i had to say that

How long would it take you to teach a complete beginner to become a winning HU poker play?
07-15-2011 , 10:22 PM
I can't really think of anything to ask - just want to say congratulations and good luck!

Want to mod a HUSNG WW game?
07-15-2011 , 10:44 PM
Good luck on your life, cool to see that you care about your pupils.

What are the odds this well grows to become half as large as Weisner's? Larger than Weisner's?

Since you've maximized the attention from pretending to be gay, what's next?

What do you always **** with me on this forum? I still get people from time to time that ask, "What's the deal about Mersenneary trying to demod you?" (the thread title says level in it now too, what the hell?)

Which players would you like the most to succeed or continue to succeed in the future?

Which players do you feel would be happiest if you did not succeed?

Can you talk about the vegetarian thing some more? Specifically expanding on the reasons you don't eat meat if you don't mind. Is there a difference for you with responsibly raised/cared for meat (funny/poor choice of words)? Does broccoli really scream when you pull it out of the ground?

Who are the most unique people (or person) you've talked to as a result of poker?

Do you value tradition in of itself?

What's wrong with our country? The world? What's one way you can or plan to help change that for the better?

Are you the type of person that would rather retire or do something else for little money or grind a job that continued to pay very well?

Do you plan to aggressively rise in the corporate world?

man, i need to check the hu forum more often. i missed a good thread. good read though.

how much would you need to flip for you life?

50% chance you lose and instantly die a painless death. 50% chance you win and get x amount of money.

Cant get over how stupid this question is lol

What stakes should an average joe be able to beat in 4 months of playing/studying (3-4 hours a day)
07-16-2011 , 09:53 AM
Didnt read the whole thread, so bare with me if a question already came up. Thanks for doing this!

Biggest "aha" moment?
Biggest leaks you got fixed before you moved up to 200s+?
Most effective learning strategy: videos, coaching or analyzing ones own game?
Will ST be the future of HUSNGs or do you think it will dry out and we will go back to regs/turbos?
Blond or brunette?
Ass or tits?

Yeah really, obviously its 2 million. Donkeys itt.

In all seriousness thanks for everything Mersenneary!!! I was wondering if you've read much philosophy? and if so what philosophy/philosophers do you most identify with? and do you think you could attribute any of your success to your philosophical outlook?

I really appreciate all you've done, and sorry to see you go. I wish I could of been a part of this months fast track, but FTP's demise put a nail in that coffin. Got staked on stars and it has been going really well. Maybe next month I could get some read only access if the program is continuing.

Gl with the new job, wish you the best!!

Nice thread. Standard Mers...everything you do is so solid. The consummate pro.

I've learned a lot from you. Really appreciate it. In return, I'd like to take you out to dinner some day. No h0mo.
