When creating pre flop opening ranges, what are some of your main goals for becoming unexploitable versus regulars. For instance, do we just need to make sure that villains can't 3 bet shove over 50% versus us or do we want to ensure villain has to be tighter say 30% instead and thus can't shove a bunch of suited trash he would versus the first strategy.

When villain calls he also wins a percentage of the time, and if villain is 3 betting close to 50% than surely this is going to be a very profitable proposition for him. A lot of his weaker hands will be played profitably as a shove and his flatting range will have increased in strength and will now capture more of the pot post flop. Or is my rationale wrong? Does this not matter since we usually capture a bigger percentage of the pot when ip due to regulars still not defending enough oop post flop and so as long as he doesn't shove over 50% I can simply min fold a wide range.

On the other hand, if we aim to have villains optimal 3 bet range be somewhere near 35% than we can no longer open as many hands from the btn. We can add some of these hands to our limping range but then this brings up the same question. Do I want villain to be allowed to shove close to 50% over a limp or do I want to narrow this range so that he can't play a very agressive pre flop game from the BB.

I certainly find it easier playing such a style. So other regulars may also find it easier and thus make more mistakes if they can't be so loose pre flop from the BB. What are the tradeoffs between allowing villain to shove wide over our sb line or having to play less hands but forcing villain to play oop more often post flop.
