Americans refusing to tighten gun control laws are so ******ed. I love America, have been vegas 25 times plus Ca. Ny. Fla, and various other states. Yet there seems to be so many thick people there, my brother married an American woman and now has a yankee passport, he offered to sponsor me to live in NYC, I almost went but was wondering how I would cope with so many deranged people with fake illnesses and fake ailments etc, then DOJ banned online poker....maybe I was the only one to benefit from this! having loved visiting the states for a long time I went snowboarding in Canada 2012, my first trip to Canada and anybody who likes the states who hasn't visited Canada give it a go, like a slightly smaller version of USA but the people have more brains and less ******ed
2 things here.
1) I fully agree with you. The logic of using something that doesn't apply to today's times is not there. As I mentioned in a previous post, it's akin to saying people can have air force fighter jets and nuclear subs today.
2) A lot of the problem is that the people that own guns, by and large, are responsible and people don't die as a direct result of their actions. Most of the gun violence in this country is from illegal weapons, and in urban areas. So the responsible gun owners say "hey, I'm not breaking any laws, I'm responsible, why should you take what has been a right in this country since the creation away from me?" Now, there's also a distrust between gun owners and anti gun people. Many anti gun people don't care if someone wants to own a gun. They just see it as "no guns = less crime." And honestly, I think those people are also incorrect. But the level of distrust on both sides, and neither side caring as much about facts as they do about getting their way, it's just created the cluster**** that you seen in American society.
I don't know what you do from here though. You have hundreds of millions of guns already sold. You can't take them back. You have a huge demand for guns both legal and illegal, you have terrible drug laws that just push the demand for illegal guns (that cause most of the violence) to skyrocket. Ironically, the people that support gun rights are often the same that support heavy punishment for illegal drugs, rather than decriminalization.
On the other side you have people who have no issue with over restriction. They have no issue with taking things away from people and taking people's rights away, even if the basis of which they are operating on is not entirely supported by fact.
Like I said, it's a cluster****, and a pretty ugly example of one type of failure in our society.
As for the rest of your comments, I think they are biased and ignorant, but if you have any facts beyond a small sample of your own experience, I'm entirely open to hearing them. I don't say that because I'm pro america and think americans are better than everyone. I say that because I don't think there is really that big of a difference between people in the way you claim.
