PokerStars kill off HU turbo / regspeed HUSNGs PokerStars kill off HU turbo / regspeed HUSNGs

I've just read with great disappointment that Stars are killing off regspeed and turbo speed HUSNGs, only leaving hyperturbos for Stars players. Personally, I am gutted by this news as these are the main games I play, albeit only at the micros. This news has prompted me, as an apprentice level HUSNG player, to ask some questions of the more experienced members of the community -

Does anyone know the reasons behind this decision, and why they would leave hyperturbos but not the other speeds?
Are there any other sites with decent action for HU turbos / regspeed, comparable to Stars?
Or, should I just concentrate on Hyperturbos, or maybe Spins?
Does this mean HUSNGs are becoming an obsolete format? Is it even worth continuing to study them?

Sorry for all the questions - I had more... Thanks in advance for any answers or advice.

My guess is that they found that the edges were to big for the good players. Hyper turbos will obviously be lower edge, so they can keep those.

You might as well switch to hypers, but I don't recommend it. And it's my main game. Action has been on a decline for years.

Lots of players switced to spins (I don't recommend this either).

I think, that cash game is the way to go. Be it NLH/PLO.

Anyway, SnG's might be (nearl)y dead in few years.

Yea but they lose their money faster. Higher $/hr, at least historically.

People have said this for years.

That said, MTTs are always a good opportunity. The biggest prize pools for the lowest buyins attract some of the worst players usually.

Why? Just why? PS really hates when people can make money, huh? I just hope partypoker ups the ante and introduces some reg speeds now. They wont of course. What a sad day.

Too bad.

What a joke.

Those were the one that I played. Thx Stars. What is the reason btw?

They take too long.

But I don't understand why they needed to be removed? What would they lose if they simply left them there?

Alright, now that Stars has ****ed up I'm looking for sites where I can play HU reg speeds. Anyone know of any site? For some reason GGpoker does not offer any HU games period (not cash or sng). Partypoker offers hu cash and HU turbos, but I wish I could play a format with longer blind levels than 3 min. 888poker has HU but with starting stacks of 50 bb. If anyone knows about any sites, even if they are obscure, please let me know.

They probably determined that they don't rake enough per hour versus other opportunities that casual players have (hypers or other games).

They may have also determined that the edge per game was too high. Basically the same reason the no blind increase/deep HUSNGs were removed years ago.

I'm not saying that it was a good decision, just trying to explain the likely reasoning.

Does anybody know how much traffic these were getting before they removed them? Were other variants removed along with reg speed and turbo HUSNGs? I play in Ontario, hope they add turbo and reg speed or just turbo HUSNGs to the lobby, don't know the likelihood of this happening though.

The traffic was pretty good, which was why I was devestated by the decision. I don't really remember open sitting for more than 20-30 seconds on average (microstakes) and people were surprisingly willing to click the rematch button.

Partypoker and Ipoker still offer these games (Ipoker even offers regspeeds), but the traffic is atrocious. Today when I logged in on Party, there were only a little over 1k players online. It really is puzzling what has happened to Partypoker. They used to be the main rival of Pokerstars, but has just dwindled in popularity the last couple of years. It's quite ironic how this downfall has happened, while Partypoker made the conscious decision to make the site more rec friendly (annonymous tables, no huds etc.)

Ipoker has extremely high rake on microstakes and basically no rakeback, which makes it tough. On the other hand the playerpool is quite soft, even for terrible players like myself.
