this isnt a lobby problem its more of stars stupid servers problem
02-07-2012 , 04:12 PM
i think more lobbies is a great way to chase down bumhunters/reg-avoiders DUCY?
02-07-2012 , 05:01 PM
^yeah, but would increase wait times for certain lobbies (like now, if you filter by high to low BI, the top lobby always gets less action than the bottom lobby)

wouldn't help wait times/lines imo, since instead of 2 lobbies sat it'll just be 4 lobbies sat, w/ one refreshing everytime a fish sits one.. no?
02-07-2012 , 08:50 PM
yea i guess i can see the wait times being slightly increased. but it worked pretty well on ftp, did it not? i don't remember people complaining like we needed to change the lobby system there. and a hybrid (non-infinite) lobbies wouldnt be as extreme as the FTP system.

honestly im not even sure what's best, so i'll be happy whichever way it ends up
02-07-2012 , 09:08 PM
4-5 lobbies will just be the same as 2 lobbies IMO. 4 regs sitting, a bunch of regs fighting for the 5th spot.

Infinite lobbies was the most practical system. There was enough traffic on FTP for it work out properly. I would think it would be fine on Stars aswell.

Of course the wait time is shorter once you actually get a lobby. However after you factor in the time spent staring at your computer screen while other people you dont want to play are in the lobbies the wait time is probably longer then it would be with more people sitting at once. I guess if you currently are really good at getting the open lobby faster then everyone else wait times would be shorter though.

It was just so much more convenient on FTP. You could register for a game and focus your attention on something else while waiting. Now it is just constant staring at the lobby with no breaks. Grinding the lobbies has become more important then grinding poker.

When I started typing this there were no hyperturbos running at $300 or above, 4 running at $200s (all of which had the same unknown in it) and 6 running at $100s. I don't see how this lobby system is doing anything special when there use to be way more action on FTP.

during peak hours, what % of your games are vs regs when you are trying to sit the next lobby after a game fills? (asking any 200-500 reg)
02-08-2012 , 07:05 AM
most lol
02-08-2012 , 09:42 AM
having the option to choose a higher buy-in in the rematch window would be awsome

don't really like that, it will just delay things. Not sure why would that be awesome
02-08-2012 , 10:52 AM
kinda hard to play higher vs a tilting/overconfident opponent if he wants to with the lobby system as it is atm, theres no chance u get 100$ lobby for the other player to join u if u play 30s normally (fair enough :-) ) so having the option to choose a higher buy in for the re-match would be awsome imo but prolly not realistic as it does slow down things a bit as u said, true.

Dont forget that it is not 2010 anymore. There are many more Hyper Regs now then there were at full tilt. During peak hours there would be 10+ lobbies on 200+ if they change it to infinite lobbies.
And we also should not be nearsighted. There are many many more Regs coming up. It would become worse and worse and sooner or later we have another HU-Cash situation...

And the fact right now that u have to play Regs (because of same time sitting) to get the chance for the fishies is good for the poker economy.

We as the players should be carefull that we arent to nearsighted if we still want to make money in the next years.

fyp.

Fwiw, i think lobbys are fine as it is. Getting into a free lobby every time you want sounds good, but then waiting for 20min to get a game because there are 10 more lobbys is pretty meh. Not to mention all the good this KOTH type system does to the economy, even the missregs help sorting out regs through stakes by skill level much more organically
02-08-2012 , 07:00 PM
it tilts me that while waiting for villain to accept rematch the table keeps popping up. like if i have 3 tables running and one finishes, i click accept and villain times down and declines, for the 20 or 30 seconds he's timing down the table keeps popping up.

and when he does decline there should be an option for the table to auto-close.

200-500s
and im pretty fast, anybody who is not supergood at lobbies, probably will gets even more games vs regs sat at the same time
02-09-2012 , 09:17 AM
Can we please, please get rid of those annoying "OK" or "Close" popups that always come up when we register to tourneys?

Pretty please?

15% sounds like a decent estimate for peak hours.

Im not playing hypers, but in my experience you are less likely to dual sit lobbies during slower times, there tend to be less regs waiting around for the same lobby.
02-10-2012 , 11:35 AM
There's two of every lobby right now

2x$500 turbo, 2x$300 regspeed, etc.

Probably just testing this out? Not sure how I like this for turbo/regspeed.
02-14-2012 , 06:21 AM
Come on, when are we gonna hear something???

I think everything important has been said in this thread
02-14-2012 , 07:04 AM

Cliffs
HUSNG players have benefitted significantly from software improvements and rake changes made over the past year. Some changes have been the result of meaningful direct interaction with posters in this forum.

There is definitely room for improvement in our attentiveness to suggestions from HUSNG players. We are immediately addressing this and expect both players and the site to benefit. We hope to see a new thread created, mods willing, that will allow PokerStars representatives to work constructively with players to improve HUSNGs. The thread would be monitored regularly by appropriate PokerStars staff with direct responsibility in the area of Sit & Gos.

It's disappointing to see this posted here with so many +1s.

Looking Back
Over the past year there have been several changes made to benefit HUSNG regulars, including:
-Addition of a wide range of Hyper Turbos with a structure that seems popular with players and rake that we believe compares very favorably with the rest of the industry
-Significant reduction in rake for many regular speed and turbo HUSNGs.
-Much faster dealing speed that results in more hands being dealt in a shorter period of time, theoretically increasing ROIs of winning players.
-Reduction in wait time for dealing to start in new HUSNGs after both players are registered and seated
-Reduction in the number of 'No Blind Increase' HUSNGs open for registration at once and much improved labelling so that players registering for these tournaments are much more likely to be choosing the NBI format on purpose

I'm not aware of any changes in the same time period that are perceived by the community here to have had a negative impact.

Some of these changes involved direct input from players here in this forum. This is my 41st post here in the last year. In addition, the dealing speed changes were not implemented on PokerStars.com until some players here evaluated different possibilities on PokerStars.test and provided feedback.

Moving forward
I above referenced changes made in the past year. I would agree that historically we could have responded more quickly to requests from the HUSNG community. Part of the reason that HUSNG players have benefitted so much the past year is that there were some very obvious and very overdue improvements to be made. Certainly Hypers could have and should have been added far earlier. My apologies for that inappropriate delay, and for any others.

We'd like to build on the past year, continuing to work with the HUSNG community. I can't promise immediate action on anything as there are a lot of features in the pipeline that require developer attention. I also can't promise that we'll agree to every software change that would please the majority of posters here in this forum, as we have a responsibility keep in mind the interests of other player segments. We also need to make sure our business remains viable; for example it doesn't benefit either players or PokerStars in the long term if rake is reduced below the point where it covers costs. However, there's definitely much potential for both posters and PokerStars to benefit from improved and more frequent communications.

Steve Walmsley is our Sit & Go Tournaments Manager. He posts here as 'PS Walmsley'. He's asked your moderators here if they'll support the creation of a new thread where he can engage in constructive dialog with your community about HUSNG. I'll also participate in the threads on occasion. Similar efforts are underway for MTT & STT SNG in the appropriate forums.
