Sins, you accuse chicagoRY of having an ulterior motive but there's no clear reason for that to be true, in fact if the cartels did keep people from moving up it would not be good for husng.com since new players would not be as interested in learning husng strategy (since they don't see opportunity for advancement) and old established players wouldn't need it since they would have no real incentive to improve (there would be no real chance of them moving either up or down in stakes).

Also let's just say he did have some ulterior motive, that wouldn't mean that everything he said would be wrong, a good argument made by someone with an ulterior motive or by someone you don't like is still a good argument.

The reason the cartels were formed in the first place was because "natural selection" was clearly not working as a way of driving weak regs down, because the way the lobbies work makes it somewhat difficult for a reg to hunt another reg and it also isn't very +ev for a strong reg to hunt down a weak reg with the way sharkystrator is set up currently. So weak regs could still get lobbies and the waitlists just got longer and longer until regs organized the cartels (not to say that cartels have been doing a perfect job of getting the strong regs in and the weak regs out, they haven't).

Wow...the stupidity in this thread is too high...
There are ton of movement in the 60s group right now. The ppl who didn't get in, are outside, because A, they're bad B, they aren't played enough players, or have a normal samplesize

Members don't have to 2table always. They need to 2table, if SL player asks for it, or if they opensit, play with a rec, and an SL player opensits.

Battlenet would suck big time, and 99% of the players would be out.
1, The best regs (top 3-5% of each lvl) could stay at their level (you really think you're that good?)
2, The better regs would have to move down, or they'd be BE at their previous lvl
3, The avg regs would have to move down 2 lvls, or be around 0-1% winner a lvl below their std lvl
4, Every other reg would have to move down 2-3 levels

So let's say you're an OK reg at the 100s...You'd probably have to move down to 30s, because the 200-300s guys would beat you, and also the better 100s, and the best 60s regs also.
But if you're one of the better regs at 60s, you'd also have to move down to 30s, because the best 60s regs, the OK and better 100s regs, and OK 200s regs could beat you (or at least you couldn't be really profitable at 60s any more)

So if you're not one of the absolute best regs at your limit, bnet would be bad for you.

And BNET would ALSO BE BAD FOR POKERSTARS. Why? Probably 60% of their regular players would change network. Go to smaller sites to play hyper there, or grind for better RB, or play a different format.
So yeah...if you wish for the hypers death go, rally for bnet...

^ listen to this guy
battle-net would be bad for any reg, no matter how good you are, you will make less

Off-topic but I'm in favor of getting rid of the "cartel" term. I heard rumors that Stars does not like it. Perhaps each group should find their own name. Something like

$60s Syndicate
$100 Gentlemen's Club
$200 Omerta
$300 Triad
The Five (Hundred Dollar) Families

...

Lame names but I really want to see the 60's Syndicate happen!

but how else are gonna cartel members feel baller about themselves?

I mean consider the following situation.
You are at a bar and hitting on this chick:

She asks: so what do you do?
You: *nonchalantly* Well, I'm kinda part of this cartel you know... *looks away like its no big deal*
Chick: *waterfall down there*

as opposed to:

She asks: so what do you do?
You: Uhm well.... I'm a member of 100s gathering of lovely people
She: ...

After a lot of discussion there has been some big changes in how this topic is being handled. Here are the links to the newest changes:

- $60s Group Discussion Thread

- $100s Group Discussion Thread

As you may notice, the threads are split off into separate buyins. This was requested by them so they can individually discuss their particular rules and situation.
