Whilst I do not wish to justify the delay in getting back to you, I can tell you that for cases such as yours where there is potentially a large refund to consider we have a panel of senior staff members who offer their opinion and we only proceed once consensus has been reached.

As you may know, the nature of the Internet is such that incidents and disconnections like these can happen for reasons beyond both your and our control. In this case, I am able to confirm that your disconnections were not caused by our servers as at the time of your disconnection, the remaining players on the server and also at your table continued to play without difficulty in your absence. Your issues seem to have been local to your computer or Internet Service Provider (ISP); otherwise many players would have been disconnected, and that was not the case.

We have reviewed your playing history for the tournaments in question and found you missed a substantial portion of the following tournaments:

As we consider you a valued player at PokerStars , we have issued a credit a one time 50% refund of the total amount $8000.00 to your account for the tournaments that were adversely affected.

Please note that the credit was made in USD and not your main currency EUR so if you would like to keep it in EUR then please do convert it.

Part of the inherent risk of playing poker on the Internet is the possibility that Internet connections may fail for any number of reasons. From a practical business standpoint, it is impossible for us to be responsible for the Internet connections of our players.

Further more, this is a credit out of good will from your friends at PokerStars and that the money that was lost while being disconnected is not in our possession, it belongs to the winner of the tournaments in question and we cannot take it back from them.

You may argue the ethics in doing what was done by your opponents however our main objective is rather to look into the possibility of improving our features to not enable this kind of behaviour going forward. We will use this case and other similar cases as feedback and input accordingly.

With that said, we cannot make a practice of refunding tournament buy-ins in large batches and of buy-ins of this nature and expect to continue running tournaments. Thus we would recommend you to look into take this money and do what you can to improve your connection. Possibly upgrade your back up usb connection, get a dsl connection as well as a cable (if possible different providers preferably) so that you in the future will be able to reconnect when you experience similar problems in the future.

I`m movin and I wait now for 2 Months that the ****in Telekom gives me DSL, I doubt I will get DSL, anyone experience with satellite Internet? How stable is the connection?

try vodafone they´ll give you 3months of umts stick flat for the time till they get the dsl done.

^^ Not sure I'd trust sat. internet...not very smooth and bandwidth is lower.. just go with cable or dsl or both (for fault tolerance)...

I also had such a problem with connection once and they wrote to me sth similar, giving me the BI back 100% (of course I play much lower stakes). Still, they show that they care. Really good job PokerStars.

Even though I hate their software, PokerStars is the absolute nuts. wp support, this will go a long way for me when choosing which site to give my action to.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stars never does this again on such a large scale and I would not blame them one bit (I wouldn't have felt they were incorrect at all if they had not refunded either).

Disconnection protection type stuff is long overdo though, just as hypers were long overdue, just as the rematch button took a long time to get up. PokerStars has improved attentiveness (in my view) to husng games since I came around (early 2007), in the end they make most everything right with husngs, unlike many other medium to large poker rooms.

Bottom line though, Stars refunding 8k here is overly generous, good job guys.
