Played 30 or so games against a guy at micros today on Stars. His standard min when in position and blinds were 10/20 was 52? I tightened up my calling range when I saw this because if I'm honest I didn't know what to do. Was I correct to do so or should I have just treated it as 40? Obviously I'm not sure of the math.

For a time he did fold quiet a bit to 3bet, I have no HUD, but then started to jam almost every time I did so which tightened my 3 bet range. Once blinds went 20/40 his standard min was 92.

I've played 1200 games at micros and it's the first time I've seen this. In the long run is this sizing optimal or is it too easily exploitable? Is it better to stick to stand min/42?

Thanks

The bigger the bet size the better if you're getting flatted, especially with value. This makes larger sizings (t45-t60) very effective exploitatively vs people who won't adjust and will continue to call marginal hands against a strong range. The trade off is that you lose more chips when villain 3 bet shoves.

It's not the best default strategy because you can be heavily exploited, especially if you have a range heavily weighted towards value, which is the main incentive to raise bigger in the first place. People will fold more, play tight on broadway flops and 3bs a lot.

''People will fold more, play tight on broadway flops and 3bs a lot.''

Excuse my stupidity but by people do you mean villain that has raised in SB with this larger sizing or villain calling in BB?

Also when calling such a sizing with say 97os and flopping top pair or straight draw is there merit to donking flop assuming villain is weighted towards value or is it purely opp dependent.

I apologise for how ambiguous these question are.

By people I mean thinking players that are playing vs a hero who is raising larger pre flop with a strong range.

You don't want to be donking because you take away their opportunity to cbet. You want to check raise your strong value though.

What is the stack size? Is this at normal, turbo or hyper?

Hyper.

Stack size was irrelevant when villain was in position, I should have mentioned this apologies. He went by blind levels 10/20 min = 52, 20/40 min = 92 and so on.
