That's an overly optimistic estimate

Congrats to handbt1 and gl to him with withdrawing the winnings - it's rather tricky in Germany

It would be hilarious if someone playing the $5 SNGs right after winning $1M just fires up a bunch of new tables because his session isn't over yet and he is lacking hours for the month.

in the last year stars rakes over 150 million from spin and gos, makes 10 milionaires, ?new poker boom (for 11 of the total # of participants)

player acts win 10m
player acts pay stars 150m+

stars is fine with this ratio

I'm not sure if Germany is good at tracking players' winnings at offshore sites before they cash out... if he can hide the fact the fact that he has won exactly this year - in particular, wait until the next one to make big cashouts - then he can emigrate to a tax haven and be fine.

At least that's my own strategy for any kind of winnings. (Russian poker players are facing about the same problems as Germans, except that the banks aren't known to deny cashouts here, but they do tend to file reports to the tax authority that will theoretically make the player pay the 13% income tax.)

Speaking of millionaire jackpots, Winamax has also just awarded a €1M jackpot (€800K to the winner), which of course happens rarer there because of the lower traffic... is that a coincidence or not?

thanxx, right now he doesn´t care about paying taxes so much, just 19 y old, buyin 5$ and get hit by this monster spin. But we will see.
Btw. was a misclick, intension was to play 3$.

That was the right click regardless; there's less fish in the $3s now than in the $5s.

It's bad that he doesn't care. No matter his age, he's in possession of serious money and has to manage it properly, not to spew it off on champagne baths, sports cars etc. but invest it wisely.

Ohh no, misinterpretation. He´s just pretty thankful for that and cares about other questions. Investment was not one topic tonight, more about consequences
about his values, relationships etc. It´s a well-educated, smart and balanced person, no worries.

Play poker for only 1 year, misclick your way into a $1000000 game and win it? Must be nice

I don't think he has to pay any taxes in Germany. He is clearly a recreational player. And for those poker is kind of defined as a game of luck in Germany. So it's just like winning in the lottery and winnings are tax free there.

c00n (can't type your name the regular way, lol @ filter), you'd dodge a 13% income tax or am I misreading that?

Right, that's what I was thinking too.

It depends on my attitude to the government charging it. Putin has not helped me but tried to ruin my career by reducing the stream of Russian fish into the games, should I be thankful to him for that?

Starting next year, I won't be subject to the tax anyway as I'll change the tax residency status. That's when most of my lifetime winnings will happen, hopefully.

The best investments (in terms of both value and common good) require the more the better.

But I don't see pleasure in that and in 'going buck wild' either. That's why I count that $1M as $200K in ROI calculations.

Absolutely right in your eyes, i would say the same thing too, well easy - misclick - 1 mill - party - ...
1. But, fact is, he´s not a pro with a nice payday
2. not a fish with a 10k or 50k
3. he´s a fish with 1M and completely under shock. It was so fast, no preparation at all. Till now nobody knows, no parents, no friends, no girlfriend. Sounds maybe stupid for u,because its a acct. poker heaven - he tries to relaxe and enjoy - but so far its just very new for him. The point from me, he´s usually the most-easy-going guy ever, really ever and I have´s seen him like this me entire life and i care about him -its family. Next days we gonna find some legal advice, tax advice and stuff and then talk with all the important peolple (parents,...) - if everything good, then relaxtime and some nice party.
