I think I totally butchered this hand. I intended to limp trap him, because I had been limping on the button often in this match. Should I have just checked on the river? or bet larger?

I think pre-flop is fine if he has a history of raising your limps, but there's no need to trap with KK unless you have this history.
I also bet the river half pot here and fold to a shove. He doesn't really rep much given how he played but fishes can take weird lines with Q here and even strong aces sometimes.
