Myself and a decent sized poker business person were passing info a few years ago about how Lock seemed to be built like a house of cards, and the similarities between Lock and several other previous poker room disasters, and most of the poker media was too focused on FTP to care. So Lock wasn't hitting mainstream readers all that much, and while many more are aware today, most just know "don't play on Lock" (which is certainly good, just the sort of constant lies from their PR and reneging on promotions was under reported by poker media).
