Very true. One thing I found was that I hated working on my game when I was struggling. When I finally got over that, I realized that by working on my game (particularly reviewing the session) the pain of the bad session would go away.
I would be angry that I lost. Then force myself to review, find a couple things I need to work on, find a couple of coolers and write all that down. When I do this, I found my confidence to be unaffected. Because I either find that I lost from coolers and played well, or I found things in my game that are lacking and I make a note of them. I am probably one of the few players on this forum that actually knows what a lot of their own weaknesses are. If you know your weaknesses, and know when you take a beat, your confidence remains through the rough times.
