I don't know if this is the correct place to post but I am guessing many readers of this thread entered TCOOP-11, I busted fairly early so went out and had a few beers. I come home and out of curiousity I decided to see if anybody I knew was left in. At the time of posting there are three players left, 'Agrobot_388Z' is in one semi final playing for the final. This is nothing short of amazing, around 4 months ago he was playing $2 mtt, and heads up for like $15. Then in November in the space of 7 days he had the following two scores:

Agrobot_388Z came away with the lion's share of the prize pool, collecting $225,689 after a five-way deal

no deal was necessary as Agrobot_388Z won the Sunday Million outright, the $224,550 first-place prize pushing his eight-day total to a staggering $450,239.

I am not really into conspiracy theories etc but how in the space of four months does someone go from being at best a 1% roi winner at $7 games to endless massive scores? Can someones game change this much so quickly? Anyways I feel 100% certain he will either win this HU tcoop or deal on final table. I think the odds of the same person playing now to be the same as four months ago very slim assuming there is nothing shady going on.

edit: argobot thing seems pretty weird to say the least but anyone can luckbox a donkament and if he shipped 200k at the mil or w/e it isn't out of the question to start entering higher stakes buyins. still pretty peculiar but meh stranger things have happened.

Sure stranger things have happened. But the black and white of it in my eyes is this player played MANY low stake games, barely broke evens if I remember stats correctly. It wasn't a few games, but a very big sample size. Then he/she blocked stats (just saw some sites stats are not blocked!) won $200,000+ one weekend, the very next weekend $200,000+. Then yesterday runner up in a $200 hu TCOOP. He/she isn't on player find and has blocked stats on all sites so I don't know about any other big cashes over the last four months. I know some good players have gone to a site and played a few real low stake games to get used to software and/or to initially have an edge v high stake players who initially assume they are low stake fish. But none who would do this for a couple of years.

In around ten years of playing online this is the most rapid 'overnight' improvement I have seen of any player. If it was a horse race in the UK where a horse hadn't won for three years then romps home there would be an enquiry. An enquiry does not mean wrongdoing by any means but its simply something people do out of curiousity/protect interests when something out of the blue happens. I am pretty sure when pokerstars see someone win $200,000 back to back they look into it. But often it can be hard to find something if you don't know what you are looking for as you haven't seen it before.

There's a big thread in MTTc about multiaccounting and ghosting. It's a pretty big issue in the poker community now.

With all those big scores I'm sure pokerstars is watching that account carefully.

I didn't realise how easy it is to let somebody else 'use my computer'. I have some laptop issues and within 15 seconds my friend was entirely accessing my laptop and doing what he wanted on it. Now I would like to be overseas and let a friend have my laptop and turn it on for me when I wanted and then I use a different laptop to play on my own account.

I appreciate I feel we should all have the right to play poker online. If players work ways around playing from countries where their government bans online poker and they use their own name fair enough. But when people are using accounts of big losers, or low stake fish its a bit poor. The language being used when people discuss deals is often surprising. Players discussing ICM etc who have never won more than $100 before. Then people with no big scores haggling for $2000 more when being offered $110,000.

Is there any links to threads about this please? Off the top of my head I cannot think of a way for this to be tackled at all. Also I would be interested in doing this myself but using my own account and living out in New York for a year or so.

the first thing pokerstars would have to do is ban ghosting entirely, just a policy will already have effects on people's behaviour. but then i ask myself what will happen if i want to play together with a friend. i guess everyone is doing that from time to time, letting someone else watch while you play. you could say it is ok if the person is physically present, but then again that wouldn't be practically to distinguish.
