best methods of coaching?

I have a friend that I said I would teach HU SnGs to.. live railing of me playing best mothod?

I don't want him to get into habbits @ lower stakes though where I make weird plays.. prob best to get him playing ABC at first amirite? he prob gonna start @ like 11-22s

Want to get him thinking about things in a new way though because he has played quite a bit of poker with FR cash and tournaments, but I dn't think he is v good.

I think you should start playing yourself and explain your thought process/reasoning behind your decisions and focus on pf hand ranges and flop textures at first.
Then you sweat him. I think it works faster this way.
I've taught 2 friends (who weren't very good) doing this. They aren't very good yet, but they are on the path to being "ok". :P

If everyone thinks thomasny isn't that great what is he doing a video for husng.com?

the only problem is alot of my decisions are feel/flow/texture based.. it would be hard to explain my though processes as I go along since there are 101 things to consider and I wouldn't say there are any hard and fast rules to how I play.. I dunno..

I doubt I could comment on my plays as I am playing (+ I play sup fast, and click fast unless I have rly tough decisions going on, (or want it to seem like I have tough decisions/making thin value etc..))

I guess I could go over basic principles, play a game and not commentate much, revise the match. go over any questions. do that a few times vs diff villains, then watch him play?

Joe/bbbushu I faze in and out of a similar thing. What I do, is the instant I feel like I'll be unhappy if I lose a game, I either quit playing or play much lower stakes. If you feel this way before you start a session and you really need to get working, just play like 2-3 levels lower. You'll be like lol I'm running terrible but lol $30 or $100 or $600 or w/e it may be. Then the hope is that you'll be able to re-instill a confident "okay, I'm gonna push an edge a little higher up now" mindset and get back to work.

Baby steps... start out with level 1.
If you start right off the bat with feel/flow discussions, he will probably be lost. Start out with ranges and board textures. Very, very ABC.

I guess popopoping a few interesting matches so he can get a feel of how he should be playing is the best option, based on your post.

i enjoy the fact how the better you do; stats wise, the worse the player is to choose to sit you, thus increasing your win rate further, and causing even worse players to sit you. such a great cycle. i love poker.
