This all depends on your comfort level.
If you are comfortable losing a few buyins then moving back down to grind them back then by all means take a shot.
keep in mind however if you should lose 4-5 in a row at 55s you are looking at almost a 1/4 of your roll.
I used to care little about BR management but 18 months of being a losing player has turned me into an uber BR nit.
personally i wont take a shot at the next lv until i have a minimum of 40 BIs for it,and even then i dont just move up,I tend to work some of the higher buyin games into my regular grind IE: if im at 1200$ ill start mixing in some 30s with my regular 20s.....probably something like a 2-1 or 3-1 ratio....2 $20 matches and 1 $30.
my experience could be unique (but highly doubt it) ,i have found that i usually run about break-even sometimes mildly losing during my first 50-100 matches at the next stake until i get comfortable.
i also do my best to play a minimum of 500 matches at a given stake before i move up aswell.
although as i progress into the 50s where there are signifigantly more thinking regs,i will probably spend 1500-2000 matches there before moving to $100s
