Improve your diet if you can. Make sure you eat regular meals and that they are healthy meals, don't eat a face full of crap before you're about to play a 6hr session. Burger King and a large coke isn't the correct fuel for that.

Similar to above, sort your sleep out. Make sure you get plenty of sleep before you play don't try to start a session if you're already a bit tired.

Surround yourself with some snacks/drinks to eat as you play. But make sure they're not crap. Have some fruit, plenty of water.

Make sure your environment is clean and comfortable. A cluttered desk and an uncomfortable chair might work for the first hour whilst you're running good but it will agitate you after an hour. You waste mental energy thinking about that and subsequently get tired faster.

Play short sessions and take breaks. Don't try to play 5hrs straight. Play for an hour and take 10mins out, take a piss, splash some water on your face and have a bite to eat. Remove yourself from the grind station every so often like this.

Don't play if you're angry or in any sort of emotional torment to begin with. You'll lose concentration faster and become tired more easily.

I think attitude is important as well. The idea of like forcing yourself to grind only makes it harder imo. You should make grinding into something that is enjoyable/fun so you can do it for longer. Your attitude from the outset is going to shape your work ethic for the future so get it right early on imo.

^ This is almost exactly the opposite of what you should do.

Eat delicious junkfood and candy whenever your hunger forces you to go get some snacks. The tastiness of the food makes you happy and the irregularly timed meals hones your instincts by tapping into your human hunter-gatherer psychology.

I have to agree with you on sleep though. You should sleep a good 12-14 hours per day. Ideally, you should sleep during the day since there are fewer distractions at night. This also makes it hard to have a social life, which is definitely a plus if you wanna be a grinder.

Snacks are indeed important. Chocolate and various fruit flavored candy works best. Water is for showering, which you should do about once a week (poker playing makes you sweaty).

If you have a laptop, you should lie/sit in the bed with it on your lap while playing for maximal relaxation. If you don't, that's ok; just move the bed to your desk.

Play until you're even or until the next episode of the vampire diaries comes out. Piss in a bottle and make sure you have enough snacks to get you through a downswing.

The most important thing is to be angry at all times. Rage is the source of your power. Don't overdo it though, you don't want to go out and kill somebody in a fit of rage and not be clear minded enough to cover your tracks.

Short runs are usually good, especially if you hit up a cold shower afterwards. Drink lots and lots of water . . . means you end up playing while taking a piss while you play which I've noticed is a little -ev, but water keeps your mind pretty fresh and awake. Pushing through it is also good, but it's important to take baby steps with this so you can slowly increase your capacity without running your role into the ground.

Oh and Thug Rap - well it doesn't really help you focus but who doesn't feel like a bad ass when listening to Rick Ross?

srsly, taking regular breaks is absolutely the best thing. sitting outside is one of the best ways of dealing with stress, just take a few minutes outside. the next session, wait longer for your break i.e. 10 minutes every hour 1 day than 10 minutes every 1 1/2 hrs the next. this will increase your mental stamina. exercise your brain by doing crap like sudoku while waiting in line somewhere such as getting your oil changed.

Sleep well and routinely.

Eat well and take supplements good for the brain. Blueberries, walnuts and fish oil are great omega three's for the brain. A pharmaceutical quality vitamin and mineral supplement is a must.

Experience and learn new things. Doing Sudoko, drinking coffee with the hand you usually don't and taking up a new sport all contribute to continued brain development. You must challenge the brain in new ways in order to keep it fine-tuned.

Nurture a social life. Yes, even the hermit needs a thought provoking conversation to invigorate the brain (if you can find someone smart enough to have a conversation with--just mess with everybody else by constantly levelling them)

Exercise (don't over do it). Being physically fit provides oxygen and nutrients to the brain. It also keeps toxins from affecting the brain as much. I think I win about 80% of my matches after mowing the lawn, srsly.

keep these over the counter pills on hand for tilts

Usually, working out does it for me.

Don't do bench-press, etc. Just go out and learn some kind of fighting style. Go all-out on stretching/bags/cardio, come back home, take a shower and sit in front of the computer with a big glass of Vanilla-flavored Soy Milk.

Works wonders. 3-5 times weekly is great.

That post was sewn with high quality Win-Certified material.

PS : For the piss bottle, do not use a Gatorade/Powerade one, or you may be setting yourself up for a catastrophe.

+1
